Complaint Trends

When considering a 2019 Jeep Wrangler, it’s important to research the other model years as well. This helps provide a broader perspective on a car model’s complaint history and potential issues.

Here are a few reasons why:
Understanding the car’s evolution: Car models can undergo significant changes from year to year, both in terms of design and functionality. This knowledge can help you better appreciate the car’s strengths and weaknesses and determine whether the specific year you are considering is the best buy.

Identifying recurring issues: Some car models have recurring issues that may not be apparent in a specific year. By researching the other model years, you can identify any recurring issues that the car may have and determine whether they have been resolved in the specific year you are considering. This knowledge can help you make an informed decision and avoid potential costly repairs down the line.

Overall, researching other Jeep Wrangler years will help identify the model year with the lowest amount of high severity complaints, further ensuring a better car buying decision.

Timeline of Complaints

The timeline of complaints identifies how many problems owners reported with the 2019 Jeep Wrangler while covered under the Bumper-to-Bumper and Powertrain warranties.

Seeing how many complaints have been filed for a car while it is still under warranty can be beneficial in several ways:

  • Indicates reliability: If a vehicle has a high volume of high severity complaints filed while still under warranty, it may indicate that the car is not reliable. This information can be valuable for a car shopper who is looking for a car that will be dependable and require minimal repairs.
  • Helps identify potential issues: By researching the complaints filed for a particular model, a car shopper can get an idea of the common issues that owners face with the vehicle.
  • Can influence warranty coverage negotiations: If you have a 2019 Jeep Wrangler and your warranty claim for expensive repairs is rejected, having a record of similar complaints can increase your chances of getting the defect covered under warranty. In other words, documenting common issues with your vehicle could help you negotiate better warranty coverage.

New recall has come out for the Jeep 2019 Manual Transmission. This is the third recall and there is still no fix. Recently my clutch blew on the highway, first it started to smoke and then the clutch exploded. Going speed of approx 70mph with a child in the car. This is well know issue without a fix and i do not want to drive this vehicle any longer. Jeep will not fix the clutch, i have to pay $3600 for it and "if" or "when" the fix happens, then i can get reimbursed. the clutch could go again at any time not safe. and jeep does not care.

Clutch blew two holes through my transmission. I was driving home from skiing. Early that morning an error code came on stating my clutch was getting too hot. I was in stop and go traffic for like 15 min when it happened. I mostly kept my car in neutral and only used the clutch when I needed to move forward more than my car could roll on its own. Driving home from the mountain I was on the freeway when an emblem turned on with a Sterling wheel and and exclamation point. Right soon after that as I was getting off the freeway I downshifted to 3rd gear and my car shot up to 5 rpm’s so I shifted to 4th gear and my car shot up to 5 rpm’s so I shifted to 5th gear and my car shot up to 5 rpm’s so I shifted to 6th gear and my car shot up to 5 rpm’s and then I head a loud explosion and my car and I hurried and pulled over. I had two other cars pull over because they saw my car of fire. They yelled at me to get out of my car and then quickly checked everything and found the fire had put itself out. I had my 6 year old nephew in the car and I was worried about his safety if the car was on fire but also the safety of having his outside of the car on a major highway. We determined the car wasn’t at a full engulfed in flames risk so I kept him in the car. I then towed my car to the dealership who misdiagnosed it so I towed it to a clutch shop when showed me there were actually two holes through my transmission. My warranty wouldn’t cover it and the recall refused it because they had “don’t the recall” aka looked at it and did a software update and said that’s all the were required to do. I ended up finding a used transmission and was able to get that installed as well as a clutch. I was out of a car for 6 weeks and the emotional stress of being jerked around and not being helped when it’s clear with the recalls this is a huge issue that is getting ignored. The GM of the dealership is now involved and trying to help me get this solved.

I lease my 2019 Jeep, and in November 2021, my then 8 year old son was trapped in the driver's side back passenger seat, where it would not retract and would only get tighter. The screws would not budge to remove the seatbelt, I had 3 people I had to ask for help as the seatbelt was getting tighter and tighter and cutting off circulation to my son. We finally had to cut him out. I reported this right away to the dealer. My service advisor kept putting me off stating the seatbelt was backordered. We made due with the remaining seatbelts. 7 months later the middle seatbelt quit retracting. I was left with just one working seatbelt in the back seat, with 2 young boys, now 10 and 12, and I cannot drive anyone else in my car as I do not have working seatbelts. I have gone into my dealer, sent several emails to my Jeep dealer and spoke in person and in email to the manager and have been ignored. I sent in my issue to Jeep corporation/Mopar, and they keep giving me the run around and told me i have to go through the dealer. I have pictures and emails of this all and have been ignored. My lease is up next month, and I have not been able to enjoy my jeep with others for safety reasons. I don't understand. Why i have been ignored and Jeep does not care. There is an issue with the seatbelts in this car.

The radio/infotainment system would reset every time I would have my Bluetooth & usb connected to my phone. This started about 4 months ago. Weeks later, my battery would be dead so I would have to jumpstart it. This started 2 weeks before the incident. The day of the incident, my car failed to start right after taking my foot off the brake while my car had shut off(due to the gas feature) at a stop light. I hooked up a jump kit but it did nothing. All the lights in my car began to blink like Christmas lights & even my windshield wipers went off until my car slowly & completely shut off in the middle of traffic. This took place on November 17th, 2021.

We started experiencing a problem with our clutch on our manual transmission 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sport in December 2022. It felt like it would slip out of gear on its own, sounded like when someone first learns how to drive a manual and grinds the clutch. The dealer couldn't figure it out. Kept getting worse. Multiple trips back to the dealer. Mind you at the time this car was 3 1/2 years old and only had about 40,000 miles. Finally we found out there was a recall in February 2023, and the dealer told us there were no parts or no solution yet. This car is my wife's daily driver. I called the dealer back a couple months later, no update yet, Jeep "was working on it", hoped remedy would be available by end of June. Kept calling back every month or two, same story. I drove the car for the first time in a while in July and realized it was not safe to drive. Constantly slipping out of gear, couldn't get it going fast enough. Decided to read the recall again and realized it said it was a fire hazard. My dealer called and was told still no remedy, now they tell him hopefully end of Q3, so I asked the service manager to please get me into a loaner on Jeep. They did this. This is almost 2 months later, still no remedy. It's fantastic how Jeep can spend millions on fancy advertisements with Derek Jeter, yet because the people who own clutch vehicles are such a small percentage it seems our safety is not a priority. I can't believe a major car manufacturer has taken over 7 months knowing there is a safety issue and still no remedy.

I got letter from MOPAR back in February 2023 stating there could be a problem with my Jeep. At the time there was not problem. A week and a half ago around Aug. 23, 2023 my jeep started smelling hot while driving and there is a rattle between 3rd and 4th gear. My jeep is a manual transmission. I took it to LaFontaine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Clinton, 1111 W Michigan Ave, Clinton, MI 49236; www.lafontainecdjrclinton.com. They told me it would be $1100 to just look at my Jeep and diagnose it, after confirming it was the clutch that is the problem. They proceeded to tell me it would be $3600 to repair the clutch. They never told me there was an open recall on my Jeep. I remembered getting the letter in the mail from Mopar so I found it. The recall was indeed for the clutch. The dealership never even mentioned the recall. They just wanted me to pay for the clutch. I called them back and asked them why they didn't tell me about the recall. They told me that it wasn't a "real" recall yet. I told them I looked it up on their website and it said it was. He told me since there is no remedy I just have to pay to have it fixed. He offered no other alternative so I am without a vehicle. I called Mopar to try to complain but they said they have nothing to do with dealerships but gave me a case number #87234470 and said they had no idea when the remedy would be available and that there was nothing they could do. I told them I was without a vehicle and they told me to take my Jeep to another dealership. I asked them if that would change the outcome and they said no but maybe they would say it wasn't the clutch. I am already out $300 from having this dealership. Please help me. I am getting no help and I am without a vehicle.

Significant play in the steering. Very noticeable at highway speeds, vehicle tended to wander and need a lot of steering input to track straight. Took it to the dealer, the replicated the problem. There is a bulletin # 08-003-21 REV A. The repair cost $1300. Seems like it should be a recall and covered by the manufacturer.

Without warning the IP panel lights up with all warnings and power steering is lost while driving. Dealership can not diagnose the issue. I have replaced both the main and the aux batteries and still have this same issue. I have been lucky so far the 3 times that it has happened because I was driving straight. If I was going around a curve or trying to avoid another driver, the probabilities are high that I would have been in an accident.

I purchased this new 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in late December of 2019. Approximately two years into ownership, rust began to appear along the frame welds. Roughly 2.75 years into ownership, this corrosion began to become very noticeable throughout the frame welds located underneath the vehicle. Many welds also feature small holes. In September of 2022 (33 months into ownership), I began to investigate the issue. I spoke with a local dealership and Jeep Customer Care via email, phone and in-person (I can produce the correspondence if needed). I was told by the dealership that I had 25 months left on corrosion warranty, but that it did not cover corrosion to the frame or suspension. I was also told that the holes are not an issue. I also contacted Jeep Customer Care several times (with photos) and received very little assistance. Jeep Customer Care also stated 25 months left on corrosion warranty, but that a dealership must diagnosis and state that it is a covered issue. Jeep refuses to further address the issue until the dealership does. The dealership has stated they will not, no matter how much I mention this appears to be a significant (and unsafe) defect. The dealership has since stopped communicating. A local body shop (unaffiliated with Jeep), upon inspecting the vehicle, stated that this Jeep should not be in this state of disrepair so early into its life. This vehicle does not feel safe given the severity and location of the corrosion/deterioration throughout the frame and suspension.

The dash instrument cluster failed and went dark leaving no information for the driver. Speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer and all warning lights are out. The vehicle went to Walnut Creek Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram on 6/15/23. They confirmed that the cluster was out. They also mentioned that this is a common problem and would take 2 weeks. The vehicle could not be used, because of the fear of no speedometer and fuel gauge. If it ran out of fuel, there would be next to no steering or brakes. There was no warning prior to the failure on 6/13/23. It has now been at the dealer for 7 weeks with no ETA for the part. We've been told by the dealer that the part fits 2018 through current models and there's a large backlog because of a rash of failures. We have reached out to Chrysler customer service on several occasions and have got no help or guidance whatsoever.

I was notified of a recall for my 2019 Jeep wrangler unlimited Sahara back in 02-2023. This is a recall wherein my clutch could become overheated and lead the pressure plate to rapidly fracture which could lead to a fire and cause injuries. To date, there is no remedy. This is recall number 23V-116 and manufacturer recall 19A. I have emailed them without response other then they would contact me in a few days.... My concern is growing as they dont seem to be taking this very serious and exactly what am i supposed to drive? If i drive the car, i put myself and others at risk. I have asked for a rental car until they come up with a fix. My pleas have gone unanswered. in any case, i believe that this recall should be addressed promptly.

While driving, traction control light came on. Eventually went away after shutting off vehicle, but engine light came on. Things escalated a week later when all warning lights starting coming on while I was driving and I lost power steering. I took to the dealership and they said several wires had rubbed against a condenser. The fixed the wires. Approx. 2 weeks go by with no problems. Then my Jeep was idling in a parking lot and all the lights start coming on and what I assume was the engine fan started running. It sounded like the Jeep was going to blow up the way the fan was running. I shut the Jeep off and when turned back on, the engine light was on and was able to drive it home. Took it to the dealership and as sitting in the parking lot, it again had all the warning lights going off and the fan went crazy again. It has now been at the dealership for two weeks. No answers. I’ve done research on line and there are lots of people experiencing the same problem. Needs a recall! This is absolutely dangerous to be occurring when driving.

This issue has been going on for over a year now. Vehicle shakes violently when leaving uneven surfaces such as coming off of a bridge on the highway. You have to come to a complete stop to get it to stop shaking. This is very dangerous when on a highway. Vehicle has been inspected by local dealership and parts have been ordered but continue to be on backorder. The dealership states that they have seen other jeeps with this issue. I personally know people who have also experienced this, and not all have the same year as my jeep.

There's some issue with the clutch, after shifting to the 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th gear when you release the clutch accelerate the car makes a horrible sound really loud metal scratching sound. And sometimes while driving, the car automatically accelerates for 3-4 seconds. And now auto start/stop symbol with the exclamation mark shows up and the screen stops showing what gear the car is in. It's been happening since April this year.

I have a 2019 Jeep wrangler. Within the first 3 months of having my jeep I experienced issues with the battery. I came to a stop at a stop sign, the auto on/of turned the vehicle off but then it wouldn't come back on when I tried to drive. It showed a battery light and the auto on/off sign with an exclamation mark first then all lights on the dashboard started flickering, windshield wipers came on, and then it started beeping. I had to get a tow truck to get my car out the street. When I took it to the dealership they said both batteries needed to be replaced. Since then I have had the same situation happen twice for a total of 3 times in my 1 year of having the car. Each time I have to tow the jeep to the dealership and replace the batteries. They check the fuse but can't figure out the cause. As for the steering, I cannot go over 80 mph without experiencing "death wobble".

After coming to a complete stop every time, the Auto Start/Stop kicks in and when it is time to accelerate the Jeep stalls, takes itself out of drive, lights start flashing, radio goes off, and windshield wipers start going. After getting through the disorientation of everything happening and cars honking at you or jamming on breaks to not hit you; one will need to re-step on the break, put the vehicle in park, restart the Jeep (if it starts, sometimes it takes 3 times pushing the start button or it may need a jump started. This is such a dangerous situation. I bought the Jeep in Oct of 2019. Had Batteries (both) replaced in Jan 2021. Still under warranty i took back to them this past Saturday, they said the main battery needed a 117 minute charge and the smaller battery was fine. they let it sit for 45 minutes and it started right up for them. The next morning same thing, struggling to turn over. I am again going to take to dealership as much as i do not want to as this is an on going issue not getting resolved.

I purchased this vehicle used and out of warranty in February of this year 2023. I've had continuous issues with the steering. I have contacted my local dealerships explaining my issues. I've contacted FCA explaining my issues. By both I'm told I need to bring my vehicle in for a diagnostic test that will cost me $250 plus dollars and then ANY REPAIR will cost out of pocket. The vehicle wonders while driving at speeds any speed, but more so at highway speeds, I have almost 2" of slop in my steering wheel, a shimmy in the front and have experienced DEATH WOBBLE numerous times. My family will not ride in my wrangler and I personally feel it is UNSAFE as well. I have already personally replaced ball joints and an aftermarket steering stabilizer in hopes of correcting these issues. I learned that FCA is aware of an issue with the aluminum steering gear of which my wrangler still has. I also learned of a TSB for the steering stabilizer, track bar and software update for the power steering itself. As previously stated ALL MY SYMPTOMS ARE EXACTLY AS THESE TSB'S DESCRIBE, and I had no knowledge of them prior to purchasing and experiencing these issues.

The front axle steering stabilizer shock/damper failed at approximately 36 months after delivery, to the point where the the front end shakes violently when the vehicle goes over a bump at highway speeds and the front tires hit the bump at diffferent times, i.e., diagonal overpass joint. This is a known issue, commonly referred to as "death wobble." Stellantis has settled a class action lawsuit related to this phenomon, Reynolds, et. al. vs FCA US LLC, and extended the vehicle warranty for this issue to 8 years and 90,000 miles. That's all well and good. Here's the problem: There are no parts available. Jeep has sourced a FOX SHOX steering stabilizer but it has been on continual backorder since October 2022. My vehicle was diagnosed in November 2022. I can't get a part at least until the end of summer 2023. An extended warranty doesn't help if I can't get the unsafe condition fixed. There is another FOX SHOX product available that will solve this problem but it is a more expensive part. There are also other suppliers that can provide an acceptable part. Jeep has shown zero urgency to take care of their customers, and FOX SHOX is obviously overwhelmed with the demand. Stellantis and Jeep need to act with more urgency to find sufficient parts to fix the affected vehicles, even if it means sourcing a higher-priced part.

The steering on this vehicle has always seem to have a lack of input, just wonders about the lane. Driving it on a windy day is bordered on dangerous as the wind will push you around. The Jeep has a pull to the right and while you counter steer that and get a gust also pushing you left, you now are in the other lane. I was on I25 on a windy day fighting the steering and passed a 18 wheeler the dead air while next to the truck allows the Jeep to relax somewhat then the gust from the front of the truck pushed me into the next lane before I could correct nearly making contact with the car in that lane. If that car had not made an evasive maneuver we would have sure collided. As it turns out Jeep is aware of this issue and has a tsb (08-074-20 REV. B) to replace a poorly designed steering gear box but will only do so if the vehicle is under the 3/36 warranty. This Jeep has 47k miles, under no circumstances should a steering gear box be worn out at that mileage period. This should be a recall! Make these manufacturers spend some of the billions in profits and fix the junk they sell. Steering and brakes should be first on the list of things that get recalled.

It has happened several times since we got the vehicle. There are times we are on the freeway and we press the gas but the car slows down and makes a horrible sound then after a little while we wiggle the shift handle and move it around to make it go. It has been very scary. Also the car has turned off when stopped at red light. We called the dealership and they just turned off the auto start. They told us we do not have extended warranty and that was it. Also the steering wheel gets locked up. We just pray that nothing happens to us. Could you advice please.

About 2-2.5 months ago, our 2019 Jeep Wrangler completely stalled out at a stop light. At the time it stalled, the dash started flashing and gave me many warning lights. I was unable to put the transmission in park in order to try to start the vehicle again. After many attempts, I was finally able to place in park and start the vehicle. I then went thru a drive thru and it did the same thing and left me stranded in the drive thru lane without being able to start it for about 10 minutes. The next day, I was on my way to work and while traveling on the highway at 75 miles per hour, the vehicle stalled out, the dash wigged out and I lost all control of the vehicle including steering. The engine revved up to a higher RPM and I was unable to put it in neutral to try to slow it down and control the vehicle to a safe stop on the side of the highway. There were a couple of close calls with other vehicles due to the inability to control the steering or the engine speed. The next day, I took the Jeep to the dealership and when scanned for codes, there was over 150 codes including losing communication with the Body Control Module. Dealership test drove and the tech had the vehicle replicate the issues and leave him stranded 7 times in one day from and back to the shop. At this time, my concern is the safety of my family. For now it appears that the issue has been resolved, but there have been many similar instances reported with the same danger of crashing. Paperwork obtained from my dealership reflects there was a module that was replaced when the vehicle had less than 8,000 miles that was supposed to fix this issue, however it occurred to our jeep that had less than 25,000 miles on it. The paperwork also states "!!Attention!! This vehicle may have had 7 visits, 69 days down and 8 repeat repairs, service personnel should notify dealership service management and engage FCA service and parts resources." Doesn't this fall under the Lemon Law?

I noticed multiple of welds on my 2019 Jeep wrangler's frame that have potential to catastrophically fail, including the front track bar bracket weld which was recalled for 2018 JL Wranglers. My local Jeep dealership (Larry H Miller Jeep in Sandy Utah), "inspected" the welds and said they were fine. However, they never had a welding inspector look at the welds, and when I brought this up with management I was kicked off of their property. I reached out to Chrysler customer service on 3/20/2023 and they said there was nothing they could/would do. This is a known problem in all Jeep JL wranglers and I hope NHTSA will step in and force FCA to buy back all JLs with bad welds, before people start dying.

Paint is bubbling a peeling on all doors next to the hinges. This is due to the fact that Jeep recently started using aluminum doors, which prematurely corrode around the steel hinges. Jeep has offered to repaint the areas where the paint has peeled off, which is obviously just a temporary fix. While this may seem like a cosmetic problem, it is indeed a major safety hazard as corroded door hinges significantly compromises the overall structural integrity of the vehicle.

I am reporting the Jeep "death wobble". I have made an appointment to have the dealer look at the issue but experienced the death wobble on the interstate two different times traveling at 72 and 73 MPH. After going over a relatively small bump at 73 MPH going east on I-94 at right around mile marker 260 in Wisconsin, my Jeep shook uncontrollably until I reduced speed to under 40 MPH. Again, on my way home on I-94, my daughter hit a bump right around mile marker 246 heading west. The Jeep violently shook and she had to pull over and come to a stop. While we did not get into an accident, the need for rapid deceleration on the interstate absolutely could cause an accident. I am so disappointed in Jeep!

Vehicle has a recall notice but no remedy yet available. My clutch often gets close to over heating as I feel it start to slip in normal traffic conditions in heavy traffic. I often encounter very heavy traffic and must let the vehicles clutch cool down on the side of the road. Jeep dealerships tell me nothing they can do but replace factory clutch at owners expense. This is not fair, this SUV only has 35,000 miles and cost a fortune monthly. I do not have the funds to replace the clutch myself and do not have a second vehicle to wait for the company to come up with a 'remedy'.

Was driving interstate in San Diego, CA about 65 mph and on 4 different occasions when I hit a bump or rough patch of road the front end of the car and steering wheel started shaking violently. It was hard to control the vehicle and I had nowhere I could go because I was in traffic at high speeds. Was finally able to move over to a side lane and slow the vehicle down which caused the shaking to stop. No lights of any kind came on in the vehicle. Very dangerous for this to be happening on CA roads with such heavy traffic. Not only does it put me at risk, but others as I have to slow down to 40-45 mph for the shaking to stop. Will be taking it in to dealership for inspection. As I have researched...this appears to be another case of the "death wobble".

Going threw a round a bout I will randomly lose all control and almost crash. I have had at least 4 or 5 close calls do to no power steering and lose of traction control. No dealer or mechanic can figure it out. It is throwing 37 codes. HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ON THESE JEEP FORUMS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE FOR THE SAME YEAR. NO ONE CAN FIGURE IT OUT. SEVERAL HAVE CRASHED. MY WIFE HAS ALMOST DIED WHEN SHE LOST TRACTION CONTROL IN A BLIZZARD. It has been months and now my vehicle is up to 42000 miles and its sitting there because now I'm to scared to drive it. It gets stuck in park and randomly powers down. This is a serious safety hazard and someone is going to get killed from a crash if this isn't addressed. I had trouble with the cluster display periodically going out. It would come back on after restarting the car. This happened 2 or 3 times. Then, it went out and never came on. This started with 40,000 miles on it. When it to the dealer they tried an “ipc” reset on it with no change. They tried a “hard” reset with no luck. They disconnected and reconnected both batteries, again with no luck. They told me my only recourse is to buy a new display (p/n 68377781-4F) for $1,169.71. I didn’t think that made sense for a 3.5 year old Jeep. I started looking on the internet and found this is a very common issue. Some report it periodically fails while many report the same as me, hard failure. This screen is an integral part of the vehicle info and safety. I cannot tell you how much fuel I have. I cannot easily glance down and quickly see my speed. I still have a speedo on my model, but it isn’t as easy to read as the large digital display. I have to really divert my gaze to obtain the speed. I recently ran out of gas on the highway with no fuel gauge. Why would a screen wear out? Why should a digital screen wearing out be acceptable? This is not right. This generation of Jeeps has been plagued with issues. From the death wobble, steering dampeners, poor frame welds to the digital display. Any help to force dealers to address this issue is appreciated.

I experienced the Jeep Death Wobble on 5 occasions. All five happened at 60 mph or above. The car would suddenly shake violently and felt like it was falling apart. I feared i couldn't steer it, which I had a hard time doing, until i calmed down and started braking. When i got to a slower speed it went back to normal. The front track bar was replaced and an alignment was needed again at 12,000 miles. I first noticed the car going out of alignment before this all happened, then the wobble followed at higher speeds. It was a very scary experience all five times. I read about it and found that the last few times when i hit a small bump it would activate the wobble until i slowed down. This is very upsetting for me as my daughter also drives the car and I feel it is now unsafe since the car is out of alignment once again after 3 months. Jeep needs to address this ASAP. The car has 13,000 miles and is a 2019.

While driving with no warning the fuse array went bad causing the Jeep to lose all power including power steering and started jerk and pulsate. Everything turned off and left the vehicle stranded for several minutes in the middle of a dark street at night. Hazard lights did not work as well during this time. After continuously pushing the start button it started back up with the dashboard showing all different warnings with the clearest one in the middle of the dash reading “stop safely the vehicle will shut off soon” the vehicle was taken to the local dealership where it did the same thing for them. Later it was confirmed by them it was the fuse array.

On multiple occasions, as my Wife and two children 8 and 3 were on their way home from school the steering column locked up and my wife couldn't do anything but coast into a ditch. When the steering wheel locks up, each time it throws messages of loss of communication to the steering wheel, loss communication of the shifter, and loss communication to the brakes. This problem has happened three different times after the dealerships service department has put on multiple parts to try to fix the issue with no resolution. This is a huge safety issue, and we are terrified that this problem will continue to happen. The biggest concern is, what happens if the steering wheel locks up and we cannot avoid a serious accident that could harm our family or other motorists on the road. The manufacturer has recommended we put on abs control module, PCM, and Lower gear box. We have reached out to the dealership and to Jeep about this issue with no help given other than to pay out of our own pocket to fix the problem.

While driving, the steering wheel power steering intermittently goes out. It does not matter whether the car has been warmed up or not. When turning or shifting lanes, it is very difficult to turn the steering wheel. On the highway this has almost caused an accident. The incident has been reported to one dealership once and to another dealership twice. Neither has experienced the issue while driving but I have encountered it lots of times. Without them experiencing the issue, they are unaware of any repairs required and none have been performed yet besides flushing the power steering fluid, which did not resolve the issue. This is definitely a safety issue.

Vehicle's front end violently shakes harmonically side to side when driving over 50 mph upon hitting uneven surfaces on highway and interested. When this occurs, the driver loses the ability to safely steer and must brake which is also unsafe to do on the highway or interstate. The harmonic vibration resonates until the speed is reduced to approximately 35 mph.

I spent 1,500 on new tires and still experience the same thing. When I go over bumps or bridge seams on the freeway, my entire front end wobble out of control almost causing me to crash every time. My kids are terrified to drive in the jeep, and I keep asking for it to be fixed before someone gets hurt. Date of incident would be from Aug 30, 2021 to today Feb 31, 2023. At any speed over 55 mph any bump or irregularity on the road causes the front tires to rapidly bounce up and down from the left side wheel to the right side wheel. There's almost zero steering control. Emergency braking to under 20 mph is necessary to stop the vibration and regain steering control. Sometimes a complete stop in the travel lane of a highway is necessary. The vehicle was purchased used with 18K miles. After 5K miles a vibration was felt at the front wheels anytime driving over bridge or overpass. At 30K miles the vibration/bounce occasionally required emergency braking. The closest dealer was booked during the Holidays and it was over 30 days for an appointment. During the appointment was told it was the steering dampener, a "known issue" but, the parts are on backorder, no ETA provided. The vehicle is currently unable to drive over 50 mph over any surface. Found almost 500 related posts online for this model vehicle going back to 1980. Why is there not a recall on this failing part?

Bought a used 2019 Jeep Wrangler with approx 17000 miles. At speeds between 60-75 mph on highway roads that have small bumps and or divots, the front axle begins a divergent shudder and wobble side to side that is uncontrollable. It has happened now 7 times. In traffic I have almost caused accidents because the vehicle is not controllable with the steering wheel. At highway speeds, the only way to make the divergent wobble decrease and go away is to immediately step on the brakes in an emergency mode, hope you don't get rear ended and pull off the road. The vehicle has been inspected in detail by two different organizations. I have had the alignment checked, it's perfect. Shocks are perfect. Everything is fine, accept, when the perfect harmonic is reached on a bump at highway speeds, the front axle goes ballistic and makes the vehicle uncontrollable. This is a safety issue that has/will kill people. There are no warning lamps or caution lights. The vehicle is in perfect condition.

Service Shifter warning showed up in center of dash and Check Engine light illuminated coming home from work on a Friday. Parked the car for the weekend, drove it to work Monday morning and there were no lights or warnings. Went to grab lunch 5 minutes away and on the way back, Service Shifter light pops up again (no CEL this time) and complete loss of power steering IN a two lane jughandle to cross a highway putting everyone in that jughandle and on the highway at the intersection at risk. Thankfully the light turned red so I could stop the vehicle. I shut it down, restarted it, and made it back to work. Took it to the dealership after work. 17 times the warning light flashed and chimed during the 30 minute drive to the dealership. They saw no warnings in the computer system and couldn't find a solution after examining the vehicle for almost two weeks. Service Shifter warning still on dash and I'm just waiting until it kills me, I guess?

Death wobble where the Jeep shakes so violently that you can lose control. It has done this since new. I take it back to the dealer and they say Jeep is aware of the problem and they are working on a fix. Jeeps fix is a replacement steering damper. When I reported it to the dealer, I was told I had to wait until a fix was released. finally at 2125 miles they replaced the first damper. On the way home it death wobbled again. I had to wait again; at 2285 miles they replaced the track bar. The Jeep didn't handle or feel right but it didn't death wobble until Thanksgiving 2022 250 miles from home. I brought it back in and they replaced the steering damper again at 14668 miles. I was told by the service department there are over 6000 dampers on back order. This needs to be a recall since it affects thousands of Jeep Wranglers. My wife refuses to drive the Jeep.

My Jeep is experiencing the death wobble when driving in the highway. Which causes the jeep to violently shake the right side of the front wheel. I have taken it to two jeep dealerships and was told that it can be due to the suspension or differential. I have not drove this jeep on rough terrain or 4 by 4. The dealership is looking into the suspension system for the death wobble problem. The jeep currently stands at 40,000 miles. I also have a warning lamp that shows to service the axle locker system. According to the dealer, the axle locker system is an electrical issue and not a mechanical one. I wanted to report this problem as it is a safety issue and it is dangerous to drive in this condition.

Back in July 2022, I went to turn on my Wrangler and the light show began. Took it to the dealership where they identified over 50 error codes. Some of the main ones I was able to see in the instrument cluster were "Service Shifter", "Service Antilock Break System", "Service 4WD", "Traction control Failure" and "Emergency Break" light on when E-Break was not engaged. Four (4) Months later and over 10 back and forth visits to the dealership, the problem still persists after being told "we test drove it 50+ miles and we see no problem". They have since replaced three (3) Body Control Modules. Why am I writing this report? Because in the situation when those warning lamps turn on and I am actively driving the vehicle, I've experienced the following concerns: 1.) Stopped at a stop light and the engine shut off. Then it takes a few frantic tries to turn the vehicle back on - this happened twice. 2.) Drove on the highway when the gears stopped shifting causing the engine to rev incredibly fast - this happened once. 3.) Increased resistance from steering wheel while steering while on highway speeds. 4.) Gear shifter locks - happens often, but typically only when I initially turn on the vehicle; Doesn't allow to move the shifter out of Park. As you'll see by my answers on the form, my vehicle has low miles and is kept in prestine condition.

On 10-23-2022 while driving on I64 in West Virginia I experienced extreme shaking in the steering wheel and bouncing in the front end of my Jeep. I took the vehicle to the Jeep dealer in Beckley, WV and when I explained the problem a member of the service department stated "That is the shimmy shock." I was told there had been an information bulletin put out on this problem and a temporary solution recommended. On September 5, 2019, I took my Jeep into the dealer I bought it from in ref. to recall# V41 and had the steering damper replaced. On October 31, 2022, I took it in to the dealer for repair and the mechanic noted the wrong damper is installed, the right shock is leaking, and they recommended replacing the Michelin tires that have only 39121 miles on them.

Part not able to get fixed as Chrysler won't release the required part until November 15th even though other Jeeps of this year have been recalled due to this issue. I have the repair paperwork. Experienced a "Death Wobble" on Thursday, October 27th. I'm lucky that I didn't panic and was able to get it out of traffic and on the right side of the road. The Jeep and cab shook violently. Issue confirmed by an independent repair shop. Have paperwork to backup claim. No one else besides the independent shop verified the issue. Dealership claimed it couldn't exist because my vehicle style is not part of the original recall for this issue they are aware of. No, there was no prior warning before this occured.

While driving on the highway, my car began to shake. Upon inspection of the dash and its components, no warning lights appeared and nothing was triggered to state that there was a flat or anything was wrong with the vehicle. I had to lower my speed from 70mph down to 50mph as I went to merge right to get onto the shoulder and/or exit to a safe location in case I had a flat. Upon slowing to 50mph the shaking stopped and I was able to drive normally. I proceeded to drive for a few more miles due to the issue seemingly resolving itself. As the vehicle reached speeds of 70+ mph it began to shake again. This time I managed to pull off onto the shoulder and inspected the car in case there was a flat and/or something caught onto the axel. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary and the vehicle drove normally, without issue from that point on. The shaking lasted anywhere from 20-30 seconds while traveling at highway speeds.

Steering wanders. There is at least 2 inches of play in the steering and the Jeep has always had this issue since we purchased it. Driving down the road has aways been a bit like playing "ping pong" with the steering as you have to make slight steering corrections as the Jeep drifts left or right towards the lane lines. I recently lifted the jeep and put on slightly larger tires. This made the wandering and "ping pong" steering control a lot worse. I had the shop make some adjustments and they basically got everything back to where it was before - still playing ping pong as I drive, but now when I take an exit ramp, the traction control light will come on. There is a Jeep technical service bulletin out for this issue. As long as the lift is within specs, changing out the steering box and flashing the software apparently fixes the problem. How can excessive play in steering NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE? How many accidents must there be, or God forbid, a death on the road, before the manufacturer has to fix this? The dealer wants to charge me $1400 to correct this issue, which they created my failing to design and manufacture a steering box that works properly with their vehicle. If I wanted to fix this myself and install the new steering box, I would have to buy a $10,000 software flash system if I want to make sure all the warning lights correlate to the actual driving characteristics of the vehicle. Very frustrating that I'm driving an "on the margin" vehicle with regards to safety and the manufacturer isn't willing to do the right thing and do a safety recall.

The steering has become very loose, causing the vehicle to feel as though it were drifting with every bump. Entering into a parking lot, or going over speed bumps cause the vehicle to feel as though you are jerking the steering wheel back & forth, with the whole body of the vehicle rocking. Changing lanes requires the upmost care when merging, so as not to cause too much movement, otherwise the entire vehicle rocks back & forth as though you were off-roading on extremely uneven turf. God forbid you attempt to avoid hitting something that jumps in front of you car; that is bound to cause the car to flip! Doesnt matter if you're traveling 5mph or 65 mph, the drifting is obvious & pretty scary.

Over the last 7+ months, my vehicle will not go into gear. When I push the starter, the vehilce flashes a number of warning lights and codes then the service shifter warning comes on and stays on. The vehicle will then not go into gear. The dealership has now looked at it 3 times and can not find the issue. They can see the code, have replaced the auxillary battery and traced the wiring. This happens approximately 3 times a week. It leaves me stranded where ever I am because it will not go into gear and has to be towed. A few hours later, it will start as normal. The windshield design for 2018-2019 Jeep Wranglers was changed compare to those prior. This change made the windshield almost upright with little slant. This design is a major flaw that they don't want to admit to consumers although when visiting the dealership or talking with them on the phone they say that this is the issue but it isn't their problem. Because of this design it is prone to constant chips even ones that you cannot see. These chips, even little surface ones you can't see but can feel cause the windshield to crack when it gets really cold outside. I had this happen 4 times in 2 years! I am 42 years old and have never had to use my car insurance until getting this Jeep. Now my insurance company wants to drop me and no one else wants to insure me. I know other Jeep owners have this same problem and it is a major flaw in the design that is causing many issues that not only affect our livelihood but our safety. I am listed one month of a cracking but as stated it has happened 4 times and it was parked and not moving each time, thankfully.

I was on my way to work and when I stopped at a red light my car completely shut off. I tried to jump start it and then it flashed that my "start/stop button wasn't working" and that I needed to park because my car would shut off shortly. Then the dash started going crazy flashing all the lights and the windshield wipers started going, my hazard lights weren't working but the light was flashing on the dash. Completely died and had to get it towed

steering locked while driving at 50 mph. Had to switch car off in middle of street and restart to get functioning steering restored. Five minutes later it locked steering wheel again and could not shift lanes. Luckily accident was avoided however I can't imagine what would have happened if this was on the highway. Parked car and towed to Jeep dealership for service. My wife and family were terrified of this incident as it was life threatening situation. Dealer informed me that they have never had this happen before and they are troubleshooting as we speak. Service engine light went on (yellow) and "service shifter" code showed up on screen. This all was sudden and there was no warning before driving vehicle.

Service Axle Locker System warning light and message warning have been coming in for over a year. I've taken the vehicle for service and dealer stated no trouble found. After 4 wheeling the axle lockers do not disengage properly and require me to drive for miles before the axle lock light indicator goes away. I've been getting the warning light more frequently when I drive and the warning message service axle locker system displays. I've also had rear differential noise/clunking when moving from park to reverse or drive. Dealer stated that is normal.

My 2019 Jeep Wrangler shakes consistently. The shaking is getting worst and unmanageable, it even shakes when hitting a small pothole on the street. It shakes when driving at a low speed and when driving at high speed. From the passenger side, you actually sense the wobbling motion. I took it to the dealership to get it fixed and they said that they did fix it but the problem came back about six months after they supposedly fixed the steering rack. I took it again to the dealership but they said that the vehicle did not have any recalls and the issue was something else. The problem is getting worst and I am scared of causing an accident because that piece of the car it feels like is going to break.

Note: The following is the second incident in less than a year whereby my vehicle has lost all power, and subsequently needed to be towed to the dealership. Apparently, the batteries (primary and aux/secondary) are/were being drained for some reason. The first time this occurred, there was some sort of wiring defect, possibly shorting out a circuit. We were able to drive it to the dealership, prior to it dying. The second time this occurred (yesterday 6/16/22), my wife was driving home via Virginia by herself. All sorts of error messages appeared on the dashboard, and the car started to jerk abruptly. Battery indicator said it was low (~9v). Car died within minutes, and she had to pull over to be safe. Once it died, she couldn’t even be drift it over for a safer position, relative to the highway traffic. If an accurate diagnosis is not made, I feel this is a dangerous situation, especially with all the Highway driving we do. Given the electrical history with Jeeps, what recourse do I have ? Are there lemon laws that may apply to these electrical issue? See towing receipt below. We currently have a loaner from the dealership, however they are saying it’s the alternator. Generally, alternators last anywhere between 50-100k miles, not 22k .

Clutch failed at 4000 miles and 3 months of ownership on a brand new 2019 Wrangler Unlimited. Blame placed on me, 2 dealerships before they would do it with out charge. 3 months later 1st recall comes out. Also when clutch was failing the Start/Stop system said it needed service. The clutch went a second time after 30,000 miles. was forced to pay 2900, second recall came out at same time and the recall was done when new clutch was installed. Took almost a month and no loaner car or rental available. Now clutch starting to smell and fail, 30,000 miles later. Poor clutch, recalls did nothing to actually address the prob. The start/stop system failed twice leaving my jeep in run but the engine off and would not start. Kept saying push in clutch and start, but it would never start. all electrical in the car stayed on for 2 hours. A PCM needed to be replaced, 2+ weeks without a vehicle. Start/Stop failed again in traffic this time, needing to be pushed. Replaced battery, thought that it failed because the battery needed replacement. The problem still persists.

Took to the dealership for a few problems and one of them was loose or wandering steering, while warranty was still covered 3/36. Dealer stated "thats how a jeep drives" and did fix the other issues i also brought it in for. Only a few years later just after i cross 40,000 miles, I decide to plan a road trip but dont want the hassle of constant steering corrections on the trip. I notice while seaching the internet for aftermarket steering fixes that Jeep had a TSB for the exact same issue I have and others who were still under warranty were getting the new sterring components and loving their Jeep! I am still frustrated that the dealer says its no longer covered for me even though all the new models have the new steering components now. The TSB should have been communicated to owners to be able to safely handle their Jeep at highway speeds even in windy conditions. Instead I just dont drive it most of the time.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited---while driving the vehicle on a city street, without any warning, all of the dash lights and any/all warnings lights started to flash. Within 200 feet of this occurring, the vehicle lost power, including ability to control the steering, and the car came to an immediate stop. During this shut down instance, I was able to vigorously hold the steering wheel to guide the car to the side of the road, avoiding the traffic that came. After the car shut down, the dash lights and windshield wipers were still going off. It still had electrical power. It would not start back up. I had to have it towed to the dealership. It is currently being looked at by the local dealership. 05-29-22

The dash glitches and lights up all of the warning lights, speed and fuel goes up and down then the engine idles high despite not shifting/touching anything. Then it it completely locked up and cannot shift out of park. If it sits for a while occasionally it will start and only have check engine light on and allow you to shift to drive however while driving I have had the entire dash light up and speedometer/rpms going up and down causing it to run higher. It has been back to the dealer twice now for same issue that was supposedly fixed. It says service shifter, my abs are not working and electronic stability control needs service amongst other things. It is very scary when this has happened while driving on the highway with my children in the car and the fact I never know if I will be able to make it to or from work/picking up kids or if I will be stuck in drive/have engine shut off while driving. This has happened more than once in my 3 weeks of purchasing this vehicle and I am scared for our safety. I have had the codes read prior to going to the dealership and it says multiple things are malfuntioning

“Death wobble” or uncontrolled front steering vibration and violent shaking. Steering gear box was replaced at 12,000 miles. Replacement gear box seemed to be ok for about 15,000miles. At about 17000 miles(29,000 total vehicle miles) the vehicle experienced a violent shaking when on a freeway and going over a bridge overpass bump at about 75-80mph. The shaking would not stop until braking occurred nearly causing a rear end collision from car behind. Dealer has not been able to recreate the wobble in part because they will not drive over 70mph(the local freeway speed limit). The steering gear box “fix” for this problem was clearly not a robust corrective measure if death wobble reappears at 15000 miles.

Experienced the death wobble. Front tires began to oscillate violently causing loss of steering control on a highway. Went on for ~20 seconds, almost ran off the road and would have crashed. No indications prior to event, smooth highway speed driving right up to extreme violent shaking. Fighting with the wheel to steer to stay on the road was ineffective. The only thing that saved us was it suddenly stopped on its own. Before this event there were several short, less severe instances of wobbling.

When pressing on the breaks , the brakes required moderate amount of force to push in order for the vehicle to come to a complete stop or to yield, there is a loud hissing , leaking sound that is also heard from under the hood. This noise does not seem to go away even after taking it back to dealership to get it diagnosed, the brakes remain a little hard to press on as well. The dealership said it was a vacuum booster brake that was wearing out so they switched it but the noise remains the same and so does the forge to push down on the brakes . This is a dangerous factor to be dealing with as the brakes are something that is used constant in a vehicle to idle your car or to stop. According to the dealership this complaint is very common amongs other Jeep owners about the brake not functioning 100%, there are no warning signs or lights that ever popped up as well . Please help fix this can cause death if brakes fail at some point while I own the Jeep .

The far driver and passenger sides of the windshield do not defrost in sub freezing weather. The windshield defrost duct vents are not adequate to force hot air to either side of the center vent. This results in windshield and wiper icing over in temperatures below ~20° F causing drastically reduced visibility 12 or more inches from each side of the windshield. The problem has been mush discussed on the JL Wrangler Forum at this thread: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/question-regarding-the-windsheld-defrost.15276/ Also described in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlKtxsKZnI4

When on the highway going over 55 MPH and hitting a bump the steering wheel and entire vehicle begins to move rapidly and violently from side to side. This causes your vehicle to feel like it's losing control. The only way to stop this from continuing is to slow the vehicle down significantly. This presents a significant danger of losing control because of the shaking or being hit from behind on the highway due to slowing down significantly. The dealer has attempted to repair this defect twice within the last 2 months by replacing the steering damper and it is still occurring. No warning messages are illuminated when this occurs.

Sometimes if you hit a bump the steering will vibrate tremendously until you come to a stop. There’s no way to control the vehicle when this happens.

Vehicle only had 21421 miles on it. We were having issues with the Jeep reveling at highest RPM when turned on. This happened a handful of times and then it began to seem like it was not going to stay started and was going to stall. We took it into dealer for oil change and reported the issue said they couldn’t find anything. Issue persisted took it back and they ran diagnostic said they couldn’t find anything. Still had the issue occurring so took it back and they said it needed a new starter so they replaced that. Then issue got worse and was stalling out and shaking. Took it back again and they are now replacing the engine. This was really shocking. This is the 4th Jeep wrangler I’ve owned in my life and so have NEVER had major issues with any of them before only normal wear and tear type repairs and upkeep.

So I just let the windshield defrost more before driving. But during recent snow storm, I noticed the defroster only defrosted the center of the windshield while driving and with constant snow the build up on the edges was making the edges not clear causing blind spots. This is very dangerous as view is obstructed.

Drivers seat became stuck folded forward making the vehicle undrivable. Needed to have the vehicle towed to the dealership for repair. Luckily this failure happened when we were in a safe location with cell coverage. The problem occured without warning after folding the driver's seat forward to access the rear seat. This is similar to Jeep's TSB 23-020-19 - "Front Seat Will Not Unfold and Lock Into Position / June 20, 2019". However the dealer tells me that the problem is not the same as the TSB and the seat frame needs to be replaced. This is the second time we have experienced this failure. The previous time I was able to return the seat to the normal position after much difficulty. In that case I was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for repair. That instance was apparently what is described in the TSB. Based on the owners forums this is a very common problem. It is obviously a major safety issue as it can occur without warning and strand the occupants.

The contact stated that he had experienced the failure while between two semi-trucks as he firmly held onto the steering wheel. The contact also stated that he lost control of the vehicle and that his vision had been obstructed due to the violent shaking moving his glasses off his face. As the vehicle began to slow down, the shaking stopped, and the contact pulled over. The contact then carefully drove the vehicle home without incident. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer who initially denied that they had never heard of such a failure. The contact left the vehicle in the dealer's possession for a week; the dealer then notified the contact of a service bulletin which was related to the failure. A software update was performed on the vehicle and returned to the contact. Despite the repair, the contact stopped driving the vehicle because of fear that the failure might occur again. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Having this occur on icy roads can result in total loss of stability. I've taken this into the dealership already once, and issue still occurs. From research it looks like this issue has been present in jeeps for decades. Why hasn't the NHTSA forced jeep to notify the public of the issue?

While in 38 degree weather, the steering wheel locked up when turning to the left. Turning to the right was unaffected. This occurred immediately after engine start. I used a far larger amount of force than usual to push the steering wheel in an attempt to get it to unlock. This eventually did work, but every time I tried to turn to the left, the steering wheel felt like it was catching on something and required more force than I was accustomed to. This continued to happen though it eased as the drive went on and the car warmed up. The next day at around 35 degree weather the same thing occurred though not as bad as that first instance. It kept feeling stuck when turning left and the more I pushed it the more it eased. This did not happen over the summer when the temperature was repeatedly over 60 degrees. The binding occurred at both high and low speed.

They then proceed to tell me that the the entire clutch system had failed and they could not tell if it was my driving or the recall parts that had impacted. They then proceed to hand me a $2,000+ repair bill, this is a top of the line vehicle less than three 4 years old with no more than 43k miles. While driving with traffic at highway speeds, bumps in the road surface cause the Front End of my 2019 JEEP WRANGLER to bounce violently and I have to reduce the speed to around 45 MPH to have the suspension return to normal. I have brought the vehicle to Golling Jeep Dealership 3 times. They replaced the Steering Damper in May of 2021which temporarily resolved the issue. I brought the car back in August and September where the dealership reports they could not duplicate the failure. In a recent Detroit Free Press Article, this condition was called an "Alleged Death Wobble". Golling tells me there is nothing wrong. There was no accident, no known damage and there was no warning of any kind. I just watch for bumps and drive slower - not with the speed of traffic on I 696 in Oakland County Michigan. I believe this is Unsafe and I told Golling's Service team the same. What Can I do? [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I own a 2019 Jeep Rubicon and the steering wheel rotates violently (~25° back and forth) while driving at any speed and when I hit a bump on the road. Even a small bump on the road causes this problem. I have researched this and some Jeep websites call it a ‘death wobble’. 25° violent steering wheel rotation at 70 mph is very startling it is an extremely unsafe. It almost caused me to crash on more than 3 occasions. There are no apparent recalls about this issue but this problem is reported on several Jeep websites. Are there any plans to implement any sort of safety warning or a recall about this problem? Thank you and please keep me posted.

MY 2019 RUBICON FROM DAY 1 HAS HAD A DANGEROUS WANDERING ISSUE. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE ON A STRAIGHT TRACK AND SOMETIMES TO EVEN STAY IN YOUR LANE. IT IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY IN WINDY CONDITIONS. WRANGLER STYLE JEEPS ARE KNOWN FOR CATCHING THE WIND HOWEVER, WITH THE WANDERING PROBLEM IN THE STEERING YOU TEND TO OVERSTEER TO COMPENSATE MAKING THE VEHICLE VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. I COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT IT NEW AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS HOW JEEPS ARE. I KNOW HOW ALL VEHICLES ARE AND WHERE THEY CROSS THE LINE WITH A SAFETY ISSUE. IF YOU GO ON LINE AND PUNCH IN JEEP WANDERING ISSUES THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF POST ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND IT APPEARS THAT JEEP JUST IGNORES THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I WOULDN'T BE TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE THIS IF IT WERE JUST AN INCONVENIENCE. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. MY WIFE HAS A 2019 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND IT RIDES LIKE A LUXURY CAR. SHE WON;T EVEN DRIVE MY RUBICON BECAUSE SHE IS SO SCARED OF HOW IT WANDERS. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS TO BE CONSTANTLY COMPENSATED BACK AND FORTH TO KEEP IT IN LINE. SO MUCH SO THAT I WORRY SOME TIMES THAT IF THERE WERE A COP IN BACK OF ME THAT HE WOULD THINK I WAS IMPAIRED THE WAY THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS BACK AND FORTH. I BOUGHT MY 4 DOOR 2019 RUBICON BRAND NEW AND IT ONLY HAS 21,000 MILES ON IT NOW. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO BE AFRAID TO DRIVE A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH A SAFETY ISSUE LIKE THIS AND JEEP SHOULD HAVE FIXED THIS OBVIOUS ISSUE AND NOT BE IGNORING IT. LETS NOT WAIT TILL SOMEONE GETS KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE AND HUNDREDS OF POST I HAVE READ IT APPEARS THIS PROBLEM IS LIMITED TO WRANGLER MODEL JEEPS. PLEASE HELP!!

IT WAS A BIGHT SUNNY AFTERNOON WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY NEW 2019 JEEP HOME FROM THE DEALER, WITH ONLY 39 MILES ON THE MOTOR, I PULLED DOWN THE SUN VISOR WHILE DRIVING TO BLOCK THE SUN...THE VISOR FELL OUT OF THE MOUNTING BRACKET, HANGING BY THE WIRE CONNECTING THE LIGHTS FOR THE MIRROR, BLOCKING ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WINDSHIELD, AND OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW WHILE DRIVING 100%. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER & PUSH IT BACK INTO THE MOUNTING BRACKET, ONLY TO HAVE IT FALL OUT WHEN HITTING ANY BUMP, NO MATTER THE SPEED. IT EVEN FELL DOWN WHEN GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP IN THE PARKING LOT I HAD PULLED INTO AT LESS THAN 5 MPH. I STOPPED IN THE BREAKDOWN LANE, GOT OUT AND CHECKED BUT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. WHEN I BEGAN DRIVING AGAIN, THE CAR DROVE FINE. THE NEXT MORNING ON JANUARY 5, THE CAR DID THE SAME THING IN ALMOST THE SAME ARE WHERE RI 95 CUTS OFF TO RI295. THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING FOR A GOOD 50-100 FEET BEFORE IT STOPPED. I WAS ALONE BOTH TIMES. THE 3RD TIME, I WAS TAKING MY 29 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TO THE DOCTORS IN WAKEFIELD, RI AND TRAVELING ON RT 1. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING, IT REALLY SCARED MY DAUGHTER WHO INSISTED WE DRIVE RIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER HER APPOINTMENT. AFTER HER APPOINTMENT AND ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT HAPPENED ONE MORE TIME. I WALKED INTO THE DEALERSHIP AT PAUL BAILEY'S IN NORTH KINGSTOWN. THIS IS WHERE I ALWAYS GO FOR MY SERVICE ON ALL MY JEEPS. THEY WERE PLEASANT WAS ALWAYS AND I TOLD THEM IN HAD WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE DEATH RATTLE AND HE CORRECTED ME AND SAID DID I MEAN THE DEATH WOBBLE? I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GO BACK JANUARY 18 TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT MY CAR. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY BE HAPPENING WITH ALL CARS AND MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I ONLY HAVE 18000 MILES ON THE CAR, IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.

BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUN VISORS FALL OUT OF THE MOUNTING SOCKETS WHILE DRIVING OR IF A SMALL BUMP IS HIT. WHEN VISORS FALL DOWN IT BLOCKS ALMOST HALF OF THE DRIVERS VISIBILITY AND FORCES THE DRIVER TO EITHER TRY TO PUSH IT BACK INTO THE 'CLIP' OR SOCKET WHILE DRIVING, OR PULL OVER AND TRY TO PUSH IT IN. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY AN 'OUTSIDE FORCE' AND THE SMALL PLASTIC CLIPS INSIDE THE MOUNTING BRACKET BROKE. NO 'OUTSIDE FORCE' WAS CAUSED ON BOTH VISORS TO CAUSE BOTH CLIPS TO BREAK. THEY ARE SMALL PLASTIC PIECES THAT HAVE WORN IN LESS THAN A YEAR FROM NORMAL USE OF FLIPPING AND SWIVELING THE VISORS. DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF LOSS OF VISIBILITY AND HOW OFTEN IT HAPPENS, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

MY 2019 JEEP WRANGLER ALONG WITH OTHER JEEPS CURRENTLY HAVE A POORLY MANUFACTURED STEERING BOX THAT IS ONLY MARKED AS A SERVICE BULLETIN INSTEAD OF A RECALL. I RECENTLY EXPERIENCED AN UNSAFE AND UNEASY STEERING ISSUE ON MY RECENT ROAD TRIP ON MY 35,000 MILE JEEP (STOCK). PING PONGING IN BETWEEN LANES AND HAVING CLOSE CALLS WITH OTHERS ON THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THE WANDERING AND SLIGHT PULL THE JEEP HAS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHICH CAN BE ANYWHERE FROM 45MPH-70MPH. I'M HOPING THIS WILL BE ADDRESSED PROMPTLY AND WITH URGENCY FOR ALL WRANGLER OWNERS TO KEEP THE ROADS SAFER FOR EVERYONE.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 50MPH AND THE FRONT END STARTED VIGOROUSLY SHAKING SO MUCH THAT I HAD TO PULL OVER AND STOP. IT SHOOK ME TO THE POINT THAT I WAS DIZZY. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS CALLED THE DEATH RATTLE, HOWEVER WHEN I TOOK IT THE THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NO LONGER CALLED THAT. THEY DIDN'T KNOW THAT IT WAS HAPPENING ON THE 2019 WRANGLER SPORT

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A STRAIGHT ROAD THAT EVENTUALLY CAME WITH A SLIGHT BEND TO THE LEFT. AS I APPROACHED THE BEND, MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN TO MAKE THE BEND. I HAD TO PULL WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE THE TURN ON THE BEND. AFTER PULLING HARD I WAS ABLE TO MAKE THE TURN ON THE BEND. IT WAS A CLOSE CALL TO CRASHING INTO A CORN FIELD IF I WASN'T ABLE TO MAKE THIS BEND IN THE ROAD.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60 MPH AND TAKING A SLIGHT LEFT OR RIGHT CURVE WE HIT AN EXPANSION JOINT ON THE BRIDGE. THE FRONT WHEELS STARTED SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY UNTIL I CAME TO A FULL STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY ON A CAR THAT HAS NOT BEEN OFF-ROAD AND WITH LESS THAN 18000 MILES AND NO MODIFICATIONS. THIS ISSUE IS VERY WELL DOCUMENTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET.

WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY, IT STARTING SHAKING VIGOROUSLY. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO STOP IT FROM SHAKING. I WENT FROM ABOUT 70 MPH TO ABOUT 35 MPH IN ORDER TO STOP IT FROM SHAKING. I TRIED LOOKING UP WHAT IT COULD BE AND FOUND THAT IT'S BEEN CALLED THE "DEATH WOBBLE." I'VE ALSO CHECKED IT FOR RECALLS AND NOTHING CAME UP AT THIS TIME. I TRIED CALLING FCA, HOWEVER AFTER BEING ON HOLD FOR MORE THAN 2 HOURS, I HANGED UP. I HOPE YOU GUYS CAN HELP WITH ANSWERS ON THIS AS IT SEEMS THAT I'M NOT THE FIRST ONE TO EXPERIENCE THIS. THANK YOU.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE JEEP BEGAN TO SHAKE (WABBLE) VIOLENTLY. THE STEERING COLUMN BECAME HARD TO CONTROL DUE TO THE SHAKING OF THE JEEP. SLOWING DOWN DID NOT SEEM TO HELP SO I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS ALLEVIATED THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY. HOWEVER, THE SHAKING/WABBLE OCCURRED 6 MORE TIMES DURING MY 200-MILE TRIP. I TOOK MY JEEP INTO THE DEALER TO GET FIXED AND WAITED 3 WEEKS FOR THE PART TO COME IN. DURING THIS TIME, THE WABBLE HAPPENED TWICE AT FREEWAY SPEEDS (65 MPH+). BOTH TIMES, I HAD TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO REMEDY THE ISSUE. MY SERVICING DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPENER AS THEY SAID THAT WAS THE ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY, AT FREEWAY SPEED, I ENCOUNTERED THE SHAKING/WABBLE AGAIN. SPEEDS OF 50 MPH OR LESS DO NOT SEEM TO TRIGGER THE SHAKING, BUT IT OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY AT SPEEDS OVER 50 MPH. AS LONG AS I AM IN THE SLOW LANE WITH ROOM TO EXIT THE ROAD, IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. HOWEVER, IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE IF THERE IS NO WAY TO EXIT THE ROADWAY WHEN IT OCCURS AS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE SHAKING IS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP.

I WAS DRIVING A 2019 JEEP WRANGLER THAT I BOUGHT AT THE END OF JANUARY 2020, I BARELY HAVE 3,300 MILES ON IT, DUE TO COVID AND REMOTE WORKING. I WAS DRIVING ON RTE. 287 SOUTH DOING 70 MPH I MUST HAVE HIT A BUMP OR IMPERFECTION IN THE ROAD, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WHOLE CAR STARTED TO VIOLENTLY VIBRATE AND SHAKE, I HAD TO GO FROM THE LEFT LANE OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO ABOUT 30 UNTIL THE SHAKING STOPPED AND ALSO WAS ABLE TO EXIT TO A LOCAL ROAD. I'VE DRIVEN THIS HIGHWAY SEVERAL HUNDRED TIMES AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM, THANKFULLY THE ROADS ARE NOT AS CROWDED AS THEY USUALLY WOULD HAVE BEEN AND AN ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE OF A "DEATH WOBBLE" BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN OFFICIAL RECALL FROM JEEP OR FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES.

IT FELT AS THOUGH THE FRONT TIRES WERE GOING TO FALL OFF. I HAD TO REDUCE TO A SPEED OF LOWER THAN 50 MILES PER HOUR (WHICH IS UNSAFE ON A HIGHWAY THAT RUNS 70 MILES PER HOUR) IN ORDER FOR THE SHAKING TO CALM DOWN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO JEEP THAT SAME DAY AND REPORTED THE ISSUE. AFTER 2 DAYS, THEY INFORMED ME THEY COULD NOT RE-CREATE THE ISSUE AND THEREFOR DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY MADE NO REPAIRS. WHEN THE VEHICLE HITS 25-35MPH, THE POWER STEERING CUTS OUT COMPLETELY AND CAN ONLY BE CONTROLLED VIA AGGRESSIVE WRESTLING WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER 11-2-20. DEALER REPORTED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE PROBLEM AND THAT I PROBABLY NEEDED A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP BUT THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL 4/2021 AND THAT I SHOULD COME AND GET THE CAR. II WAS ALSO TOLD THAT I WAS #20 ON A LIST OF WRANGLER RUBICONS THAT ARE WAITING FOR THIS PART AND THAT THEY ONLY GET ONE POWER STEERING PUMP FROM THE MANUFACTURER EVERY 30 DAYS. THERE IS PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (ABOVE 60 MPH) AND THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. IT WAS ALWAYS LOSE BUT THE SEVERITY WAS NOTICED ON A 1200 MILE ROAD TRIP AND CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE. THIS ISSUE CAUSES THE DRIVER TO CONSTANTLY ADJUST THE STEERING WHEEL AND FEELS LIKE YOU DO NOT HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. LOOSE STEERING, VEHICLE WANTS TO WANDER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HARD TO CONTROL ON WINDY ROADS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. JEEP HAS ISSUED A TSB 08-074-20 FOR A STEEL STEERING GEAR (REPLACING STOCK ALUMINUM PART). BECAUSE IT IS A TSB AND NOT A RECALL, THERE IS TOO MUCH SUBJECTIVITY IN DEFINING "LOOSE STEERING". ALSO, BECAUSE ALL 2018 AND 2019 JEEP WRANGLERS HAVE THIS ALUMINUM GEAR THE DEALER CAN SIMPLY SAY "THEY ALL DRIVE LIKE THIS". SOME JEEP OWNERS ARE GETTING HELP FROM THEIR DEALERS, BUT MANY MANY OTHERS ARE NOT. THIS TSB NEEDS TO BE CONVERTED INTO A RECALL ASAP!

HE THOUGHT HE HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY, I SLAMMED ON MY BREAKS TO AVOID A COLLISION AND THE CAR STOPPED, COMPLETELY'GAVE ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS AND WOULD NOT RESTART.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN A WINDING MOUNTAIN ROAD, THE "ELECTRONIC THROTTLE" WARNING CAME ON AS DID VSC, ABS, CHECK ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL. THE STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF AND THE THROTTLE UNCONTROLLABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ESSENTIALLY OUT OF CONTROL. WE TOOK IT TO A DEALER FOUR TIMES, EACH TIME IT WASN'T FIXED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT A DEALER AND FCA IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. I HEARD THE MECHANIC SAY THEY HAD OTHERS THAT WERE DOING THIS. FCA REFUSES TO DESCRIBE WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE TO ME BECAUSE IT'S PROPRIETARY. THEY ESSENTIALLY WANT TO TRY STUFF, THEN HAVE ME RISK MY LIFE TESTING IT TO SEE IF IT WORKS. THE PHOTO IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, ON AN INTERSTATE GOING STRAIGHT. THIS IS A 2019 WRANGLER RUBICON WITH 12K MILES AND COMPLETELY STOCK. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT AND FCA DOESN'T KNOW OR DOESN'T WANT TO SAY WHAT IT IS. THEY SOUND LIKE THEY ARE TRYING TO COVER UP THE PROBLEM WITH SOME SORT OF HACKED UP SOFTWARE FIX, BUT THE SOFTWARE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY UPDATED. I AM WORRIED THAT SOMEONE WILL BE HURT OR WORSE IF THIS HAPPENS TO THEM.

EVENTUALLY DIES AND THEN YOU MUST SHUT DOWN VEHICLE WITH KEY. WAIT ABOUT 1 MINUTE START AND IT DRIVES FINE. HAS HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES BEEN INTO SHOP. THEY HAVE "FLASHED" COMPUTERS BUT CONTINUES TO DO RANDOMLY.

LOOSE AND WANDERING STEERING. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN JANUARY 2019, IT CURRENTLY HAS 5,039 MILES. SINCE NEW, THE STEERING HAS BEEN LOOSE AND WANDERS AROUND THE LANE OF TRAVEL AT SPEEDS OVER ABOUT 30 MPH ON PAVED, WELL MAINTAINED HIGHWAYS. IF YOU TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD TO CHECK GAUGES OR CONTROLS, YOU HAVE TO QUICKLY MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT TO KEEP IT CENTERED IN THE LANE. IT HAS LOW MILEAGE IN THE 18 MONTHS OF OUR OWNERSHIP BECAUSE WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. WE WANT TO AVOID A CRASH AND INJURIES AT ALL COST. THE STEERING WHEEL CAN BE TURNED EITHER DIRECTION FOR SEVERAL DEGREES WITHOUT RESPONSE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO MY DEALERS AND THEY HAVE MADE THREE DIFFERENT ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE, BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO BASED ON THE DESIGN. THE LAST ATTEMPT, THEY ADVISED THEY HAD SPOKEN TO THEIR AREA JEEP/FCA REPRESENTATIVE AND WERE ADVISED THAT JEEP IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND A CORRECTION WILL BE COMING IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THE ASKED ME TO BE PATIENT. THAT WAS OVER ONE YEAR AGO AND STILL NO CORRECTION. I'M SURE THIS ISSUE HAS LIKELY CAUSED MANY PREVENTABLE CRASHES AND INJURIES AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO UNTIL IT IS RESOLVED BY THE MANUFACTURER. IT'S TIME FOR NHTSA INFLUENCE.

THIS JEEP HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES PREVIOUSLY FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE. THIS INCIDENT, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ALL THE INSTRUMENTS STARTED GOING CRAZY (PREVIOUSLY HAPPENED MANY TIMES). SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. THE POWER STEERING WAS STILL WORKING, BUT THE WHEEL WOULD ONLY TURN AROUND 1 INCH IN EITHER DIRECTION. BRAKING WAS NORMAL. MANEUVERED THE JEEP OFF THE ROAD AND HAD TOWED TO RON CARTER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE DEALERSHIP IN LEAGUE CITY, TX. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THIS VEHICLE 4 TIMES IN THE PAST FOR THIS ISSUE. IN THE PAST THE STEERING HAS NOT BEEN AFFECTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WON'T START OR THE PARKING BRAKE WILL BE SET AND YOU CAN'T MOVE OR OTHER WEIRD DIFFERENT STUFF HAPPENS. THE STEERING ISSUE IN THIS PAST INCIDENT IS SERIOUS. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER INQUIRED WHAT HAPPENED HE TOLD ME HE HAS TOWED PROBABLY 20 OTHER NEWER JEEP WRANGLERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME LAST TIME WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN AND IT WAS STILL ACTING UP THAT THERE WERE 15 FAULTS STORED. THE ISSUE USUALLY CLEARS ITSELF UP BY THE TIME WE GET IT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY HAVE TALKED WITH CHRYSLER AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG AND HAVE JUST BEEN THROWING DARTS REPLACING VARIOUS THINGS. IF THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER IS RIGHT ON HOW MANY VEHICLES HES TOWED WITH THIS PROBLEM THERE IS A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL / COMPUTER ISSUE GOING ON WITH THESE VEHICLES THAT IS GOING TO CAUSE ACCIDENTS.

LOOSE STEERING HAS CAUSED SEVERAL 'NEAR MISSES' WHEN TAKING CURVES, ESPECIALLY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40MPH. THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY LOOSE OVERALL, BUT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.

MY JEEP HAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAS TO MUCH PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. BECAUSE OF THIS, THE VEHICLE WANDERS BACK AND FORTH IN THE ROAD.TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM YOU HAVE TO CONSTANTLY TURN THE WHEEL BACK AND FORTH. THE PROBLEM IS EXACERBATED WITH SPEED, SO AT HIGHWAY IT IS SO UNSAFE, YOU FELL LIKE YOU ARE GOING TO DIE.THE VEHICLE HAS SERIOUS STEERING BOX ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS SO UNSAFE I WILL NOT LET ANYONE DRIVE THIS VEHICLE.

2019 JEEP WRANGLER JL SPORT-STEERING ISSUES I HAVE HAD MY 2019 JL A LITTLE OVER A YEAR NOW AND HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING CONCERNS WITH THE STEERING SINCE I DROVE IT HOME. BEING A FIRST TIME JEEP OWNER, INITIALLY I THOUGHT MAYBE THAT WAS JUST THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DRIVE. AFTER A FEW MONTHS, IT JUST DIDN'T SEEM RIGHT TO ME THAT A BRAND NEW JEEP COULD BE THIS SLOPPY IN THE STEERING. THERE IS A TON OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH MEANS CONSTANTLY OVER-CORRECTING TO STAY IN A LANE. IT IS NOTICEABLE AT ALL SPEEDS BUT EVEN MORE SO AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I FIND THAT I CANNOT TAKE ONE HAND OFF THE WHEEL AT ANYTIME WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT CAN WANDER. THIS IS AN EXHAUSTING WAY TO DRIVE NOT TO MENTION THE CONSTANT BUMP STEER THAT HAPPENS WHEN GOING OVER ANY MINOR BUMP OR HIGHWAY OVERPASS. IT'S NERVE WRACKING DRIVING IN TIGHT LANES ON THE HIGHWAY AND ESPECIALLY IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES. IT'S TO THE POINT THAT I HONESTLY DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT AND NEITHER DOES MY BOYFRIEND. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS UP NOW AT TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS FOR A TOTAL OF 5-6 TIMES. THE MOST RECENT RESPONSE WAS, "THAT'S JUST THE NATURE OF THE BEAST". I'M SORRY BUT THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THE FIRST DEALERSHIP PUT MY DAMPER RECALL PART IN UPSIDE DOWN AND SO I DROVE ON AN UPSIDE DOWN PART FOR 5 MONTHS BEFORE I EXPERIENCED THE DEATH WOBBLE ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER THAT INCIDENT I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP WHO PUT IN A NEW DAMPER THE CORRECT WAY BUT STILL EXTREME LOOSENESS IN THE WHEEL AND WANDERING ALL OVER THE ROAD. THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING IS THAT THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE JEEP AND IT'S SAFE TO DRIVE YET THERE ARE 1,000'S OF REPORTS HAVING THE SAME STEERING ISSUES AS ME. THIS IS MY SECOND TIME OPENING A CASE WITH JEEP CARE HOWEVER I'M NOT HOPEFUL THAT THEY WILL HELP AT ALL.

PURCHASED A NEW JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA UNLIMITED 6/22/2020 WITH 340 MILES. THE STEERING IS VERY LOOSE, 1 1/2-2" OF FREE PLAY IN STEERING WHEEL, NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN THE LANE, THE LOOSENESS IS NOTICEABLE AT ALL SPEEDS, BUT BECOMES HARDER TO CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE BEEN IN THE NEW CAR BUSINESS FOR 34 YEARS AS A SERVICE MANAGER, 6 YEARS WITH JEEP, AND THE STEERING GEAR HAS SLACK IN IT. THE JEEP WAS SCHEDULED TO BE REPAIRED 6/7/20, AFTER BEING AT THE DEALERSHIP ALL DAY, IT WAS DELIVERED BACK TO ME, AND TOLD IT WAS NORMAL AND "JEEP LIKE". I SHOWED THEM A VIDEO OF ME DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL SIDE TO SIDE 2" WITH THE JEEP STAYING IN A STRAIGHT LINE, UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE, I COMMUTE 110 MILES A DAY IN THIS VEHICLE.

THIS VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT USED ON 5/17 IT WAS THE DEALERSHIPS RENTAL BEFORE.DRIVING FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THE HIGHWAY ON 6/19 AT HIGHWAY SPEED VEHICLE HAD SUDDEN DEATH WOBBLE IT WAS SCARY FEELING THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE JEEP SHAKE SIDE TO SIDE. MADE IT HOME SAFELY AND SAW THE V41 RECALL WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ONCE THEY WERE OPEN ON 6/22 AND WAS TOLD IT WAS DEATH WOBBLE AND GIVEN A RENTAL CAR. ON 6/24 I WAS TOLD THE PART NEEDED IS ON BACKORDER. INCLUDING A PICTURE SHOWING THE PART WAS INSTALLED WRONG . THEY ALSO SAID IT WAS INSTALLED ON 9/19 WHEN THE UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS WERE SENT OUT ON. 6/19 AND CLEARLY MANAGED TO INSTALL INCORRECTLY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE STEERING DAMPER FIX IS JUST THAT A BANDAID NOT A ACTUAL FIX AT ALL SINCE THERE ARE REPORTS OF IT HAPPENING AFTER IT'S INSTALLED . MY JEEP IS ALL STOCK. *TR

WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS HOT ENOUGH AND THE A/C IS TURNED ON THE COOLING FAN NOISE BECOMES EXCESSIVE. IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE WITH JEEP. THERE'S AN ACTUAL TSB SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS NOISE. TSB 18-041-18 REV B. WHEN I TOOK MY JEEP TO THE DEALER TO REMEDY,I WAS TOLD THAT MY JEEP WASN'T PART OF THAT TSB AND THE ADMITTED NOISE WAS NORMAL. IF THERE'S A TSB OUT FOR THIS CONDITION,HOW IS IT NORMAL? THAT MEANS ON SOME JEEPS IT'S NOT NORMAL? WHAT'S THE CRITERIA FOR IT TO BE NOT NORMAL? *TR

WE PURCHASED OUR 2019 JEEP WRANGLER IN MAY 2020. WE NOTICED AN ISSUE WITH THE STEERING BEING VERY "LOOSE" WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS IN CITY AND ON THE HIGHWAY. A SLIGHT CORRECTION TO THE WHEEL MAKES A HUGE DIRECTIONAL CHANGE WHILE DRIVING. THE JEEP SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF ITS OWN. WE MENTIONED THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING THE JEEP AND WAS GIVEN THE EXPLANATION THAT IT IS A JEEP AND MADE FOR OFF-ROADING...IF THEY LOOK AT IT (UNDER WARRANTY) WE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE. SINCE THEN WE HAVE DONE SOME INVESTIGATING AND FOUND EXACTLY THE SAME COMPLAINTS AS WE ARE EXPERIENCING. THE JEEP IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND A SOLUTION NEEDS TO BE FOUND BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT AND/OR DIES.
