Complaint Trends

When considering a 2018 Honda Accord, it’s important to research the other model years as well. This helps provide a broader perspective on a car model’s complaint history and potential issues.

Here are a few reasons why:
Understanding the car’s evolution: Car models can undergo significant changes from year to year, both in terms of design and functionality. This knowledge can help you better appreciate the car’s strengths and weaknesses and determine whether the specific year you are considering is the best buy.

Identifying recurring issues: Some car models have recurring issues that may not be apparent in a specific year. By researching the other model years, you can identify any recurring issues that the car may have and determine whether they have been resolved in the specific year you are considering. This knowledge can help you make an informed decision and avoid potential costly repairs down the line.

Overall, researching other Honda Accord years will help identify the model year with the lowest amount of high severity complaints, further ensuring a better car buying decision.

Timeline of Complaints

The timeline of complaints identifies how many problems owners reported with the 2018 Honda Accord while covered under the Bumper-to-Bumper and Powertrain warranties.

Seeing how many complaints have been filed for a car while it is still under warranty can be beneficial in several ways:

  • Indicates reliability: If a vehicle has a high volume of high severity complaints filed while still under warranty, it may indicate that the car is not reliable. This information can be valuable for a car shopper who is looking for a car that will be dependable and require minimal repairs.
  • Helps identify potential issues: By researching the complaints filed for a particular model, a car shopper can get an idea of the common issues that owners face with the vehicle.
  • Can influence warranty coverage negotiations: If you have a 2018 Honda Accord and your warranty claim for expensive repairs is rejected, having a record of similar complaints can increase your chances of getting the defect covered under warranty. In other words, documenting common issues with your vehicle could help you negotiate better warranty coverage.

The car out of no where breaks while driving and thinks it’s been involved in a collision.

  • NHTSA ID Number: 11489072
  • Incident Date: October 13, 2022

Braking system caused my daughter to have an accident. My 2018 Honda Accord sport has been braking on its own for quite some time now. I attempted to turn off all safety features but somehow missed the braking system feature. The car will brake on its own with nothing in front of it. It will give beeping noises and flash “brake” on the dashboard. On 10/12/2022 my daughter was on the interstate, the roads were wet with heavy traffic. She called me saying that she had an accident. The officer stated that speeding played a part in causing the accident. My daughter said the car just started beeping and she noticed she was going to slow in traffic so she preceded to get in the right lane. Upon doing so she said that my car just started spinning and she took her foot off the gas and never applied pressure to the brakes. She ended up on the other side of the road hitting a guard rail. I feel like the braking system played a huge part in this accident.

SO THIS VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WITH THE CRASH MITIGATION SYSTEM TURNED ON. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WILL TRIGGER THE SYSTEM WITH A FALSE POSITIVE CRASH DETECTION AND WILL EMERGENCY BRAKE FOR YOU AND CUT THE GAS SO YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE. HOWEVER, I HAVE HAD A FEW FALSE POSITIVES. THE FIRST 2 TIMES WAS A COMPLETE HORROR STORY. I WAS DRIVING IN A HIGH-SPEED ENVIRONMENT, WHILE A TRUCK WAS MERGING ON TO THE FREEWAY, I WAS SUPPOSED TO ACCELERATE PAST HIM AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT BEEPED AND HALT TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE FREEWAY. LUCKILY THE SEMI EVADED ME AND I REGAIN CONTROL AND SPEED OUT OF THE WAY. 2ND TIME WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER SEMI, I WAS LUCKY THAT PEOPLE GOT OUT OF THE WAY FOR THE TRUCK TO CLEAR ME. THE 3RD TIME OCCURRED JUST LAST WEEK ON THURSDAY. THERE WAS A CAR 5 CAR DISTANCE FROM ME, LEFT OF ME HAS A ROW OF CARS MAKING A LEFT, FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. WELL, SOMEHOW IT DECIDED TO GO APE[XXX] AND CAUSED ME TO GET REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *CC *TR

MY VEHICLE'S BACKUP CAMERA SOFTWARE HAS FAILED AGAIN DESPITE BEING "FIXED" ONCE ALREADY. THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED IN 2018 TO FIX DEFECTIVE SOFTWARE THAT CAUSED THE BACKUP CAMERA TO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE CAMERA'S COLLISION SENSOR QUIT WORKING AND FAILED TO WARN ME OF OBJECTS IN MY PATH WHEN I WAS BACKING UP. HONDA LOADED NEW SOFTWARE, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR ANOTHER REPAIR, BUT I GOT THE SAME OLD SONG AND DANCE... "GEE, IT'S WORKING FINE FOR US, AND WE CAN'T FIX IT IF IT AIN'T BROKE!" WELL IT IS BROKEN, AND HONDA WON'T FIX IT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND I HOPE THE NHTSA CAN HELP ME GET IT RESOLVED.

DURING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, CAR BRAKED CAUSING THE PERSON BEHIND ME TO REAR-END ME. THIS HAD HAPPENED ONE OTHER TIME BEFORE, LUCKILY THE CAR BEHIND ME WASN'T FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY AND I WAS GOING LESS THAN 30MPH. A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER THAT WHILE GOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WET ROAD CONDITIONS, A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON STATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM AND TO SEE DEALER. ONCE THAT WARNING COMES ON CRUISE CONTROL ALSO DISENGAGES. THIS WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON ONE OTHER TIME, WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH DRY ROAD CONDITIONS. IF THE CAR IS RESTARTED THE WARNING RESETS AND ALL SYSTEMS ARE UP AND FUNCTIONING AGAIN.

ON 2/14/19, I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT APPROXIMATELY 40MPH. THE CAR AHEAD OF ME STOPPED. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AND INSTANTLY THE DASHBOARD WARNINGS LIT UP - ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM, ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM, AND THE BRAKE - AND THE BRAKE DID NOT WORK SO I COULD NOT STOP. I REAR-ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME DOING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY CAR. THE WARNINGS WERE STILL VISIBLE AFTER THE CRASH AND I TOOK PICTURES OF THE DASHBOARD AS BEST AS POSSIBLE. THE WARNINGS SAY SOMETHING ABOUT SYSTEM NOT WORKING AND TO SEE A DEALER. THE SAME WARNINGS APPEARED ON 2/13/19 IN THE AFTERNOON BUT DISAPPEARED ON 2/14/19 IN THE MORNING. OTHER WARNINGS OF SAFETY SYSTEMS NOT ACTIVE HAVE APPEARED DUE TO ICE/SLUSH BUT THEN CLEARED WHEN THE SENSORS WERE CLEARED, BUT THESE NEW WARNINGS ARE DIFFERENT. AT LEAST TWICE, MAYBE THREE TIMES IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS, THE CAR WOULD SUDDENLY BRAKE AND SLOW DOWN WITH NOTHING IN THE ROAD OR IN FRONT OF THE CAR. MY BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY WORKED FINE FOR FIRST 2-3 MONTHS BUT THEN STOPPED AND I COULDN'T RECONNECT THE PHONE OVER THE PAST TWO MONTHS. IT SEEMS LIKE MORE THAN ONE SYSTEM/ELECTRONICS PROBLEM AND SEEMS LIKE THE WARNINGS APPEARED AT THE SAME TIME AS THE BRAKE NOT WORKING AS IF IT WAS MORE THAN AN ALERT BUT A SYSTEM (SYSTEMS) NO LONGER FUNCTIONING AT ALL. THE BRAKE WORKED AFTER THE ACCIDENT WHEN THE CAR WAS RESTARTED.

IN THE MIDDLE OF COMPLETING THE TURN, THE LANE MITIGATION FEATURE ACTIVATED AND STEERED THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE STRUCK A BOULDER AND FRACTURED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SUSPENSION, WHICH DAMAGED THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CORAL SPRINGS AUTO MALL (9300 W ATLANTIC BLVD, CORAL SPRINGS, FL 33071, (954) 369-1016) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A MISCOMMUNICATION BETWEEN SEVERAL OF THE SAFETY FEATURES. [XXX] Yesterday around 11:15AM CDT I was traveling north at 45 MPH right lane (4 lane road) no other cars around me (neither ahead, to the side or behind) and just before I reached a tree shaded spot on the road the Break Alert light started flashing and the Automatic Emergency Braking System engaged and slammed on the brakes (seemed like it cut the gas or electric power to the engine as my foot was on the accelerator pedal). It jarred my body and later in the evening my neck started to tighten up so I must have incurred whiplash. I looked on line and saw that there has been a class action case filed in 2019 about Honda’s ASBS engaging with no other vehicle around citing several other instances similar of what happened to me yesterday. When I went to unload my groceries that I had just purchased and placed in the cargo netting in the cars trunk, the force of the hard stop was so great that it pulled the clip that was holding the cargo netting out. I’ll attach a couple of pictures (clip that popped out is circled in red.) I’ve not contacted my doctor yet about the whiplash. Started putting cold and hot on my neck and taking Aleve. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

ON SUNDAY NIGHT (11/10/19) AROUND 5:15 PM, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE LEFT LANE OF A 2-LANE HIGHWAY AT ~55 MPH. THE CLOSEST VEHICLE WAS NO LESS THAN 5 CAR LENGTHS AHEAD OF ME. RANDOMLY, THE ORANGE "BRAKE" LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASH AND THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP CAUSING MY HEAD TO JOLT FORWARD. LUCKILY THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS ABLE TO STOP AS I STARTED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. I BELIEVE THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OF ME OR ON THE ROAD THAT SHOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS SAFETY FEATURE TO ENGAGE. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. I WOKE UP THIS MORNING IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN FROM MY NECK AND SHOULDERS DOWN TO MY LOWER BACK. THE PAIN HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND IS NOW RADIATING DOWN MY ARMS AND I HAVE LIMITED RANGE OF MOTION. LAST NIGHT, I FIGURED OUT HOW TO TURN OFF THE AUTOMATIC BRAKE FEATURE AND HAVE NOT TURNED IT BACK ON TODAY.

MY 2018 HONDA ACCORD BRAKED SPONTANEOUSLY FOR NO REASON. THE WORD BRAKE APPEARS ON THE CONSOLE AND THE CAR ENGAGES THE BRAKES SUDDENLY AND FORCEFULLY. I'VE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS AND THERE WERE NO VEHICLES OR OBJECTS IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. DURING TWO EPISODES, I WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN MY CAR BRAKED SPONTANEOUSLY- IT CAUSED MY HEAD/NECK TO JERK FORWARD. FORTUNATELY, THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME DID NOT TEAR END ME. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THE BRAKE MITIGATION SYSTEM ENGAGES WHEN DRIVING THROUGH CONSTRUCTION ZONES AND TOLD ME TO TURN OFF THE SYSTEM IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES. HE SAID 'THAT'S HOW THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO WORK'. I WAS NOT IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. IT APPEARS HONDA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IS NOT TAKING STEPS TO CORRECT IT.

TODAY I WAS DRIVING HOME, DOING 45 MILES PER HOUR. THIS IS A TWO LANE ROAD, THERE WERE NO CARS NEAR ME. SUDDENLY, THE CAR BEEPED TWICE, THE BRAKE SIGN CAME ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR STOPPED VIOLENTLY. THE SEAT BEAT LOCKED DOWN ACROSS ME. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO ONE BEHIND ME. MY NECK AND RIGHT SHOULDER ARE NOW HURTING. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED A MILE FROM MY HOME. MY HUSBAND CALLED THE HONDA DEALER WHEN I GOT HOME TO REPORT THE INCIDENT. THIS IS THE THIRD INCIDENT SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, BUT THIS TIME WAS A MORE VIOLENT STOP. EACH TIME THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OR BESIDE THE CAR. THANKFULLY, EACH TIME NO OTHER CAR WAS DIRECTLY BEHIND ME.

THREE TIMES NOW I HAVE HAD THE EMERGENCY BREAKS ACTIVATE FOR NO REASON. NO ONE WAS INJURED THE FIRST TIME AS THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING VERY SLOW. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED THOUGH, I WAS INJURED. I WAS DRIVING APPROX. 45 MPH DOWN A BUSY STREET WHEN THE CAR STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED. NOT ONLY DID THIS SCARE ME, BUT I WAS IN EXTREME PAIN AFTERWARDS. WHEN THE PAIN GOT WORSE AND I DEVELOPED BRUISING ON MY NECK I WENT TO SEE A SPECIALIST AND HE CONFIRMED THAT I HAVE WHIPLASH. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THE SENSOR IS JUST SENSITIVE. THEY CHECKED IT OUT BUT OFFERED NO SOLUTION. I HAVE KEPT THE FEATURE TURNED OFF SINCE THIS HAPPENED. THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED WITH THE FEATURE DISABLED. MY SON WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME. WE WERE BOTH SHAKEN UP PRETTY BADLY. I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR. EVERY TIME THE DASH LIGHTS UP FOR ANY REASON, I FLINCH. I HAVE HAD TO MISS WORK DUE TO THE INJURIES THAT I RECEIVED. I AM A SINGLE MOM TO FIVE KIDS, I CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS WORK DUE TO POOR DESIGN AND ENGINEERING OF THIS VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR THINKING THAT THIS FEATURE WAS A SAFETY FEATURE. IT HAS CERTAINLY PROVEN TO BE THE OPPOSITE!

I PURCHASED MY CARS ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO AND NOTICED SOME ISSUES AS SOON AS I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP. FIRST THERE'S NO MILEAGE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER, ONLY KILOMETER. AS SOON AS YOU SWITCH TO MILES IT DISAPPEARS. SECOND, THE CAR PLAY SYSTEM OFTEN TIMES RESETS ITSELF WHILE IN DRIVING MODE , ALSO HAPPENS A LOT WHEN GEAR IS SHIFTED. THIRD, LANE SENSOR SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY DEFECTED AS WELL AND CANNOT BE TRUSTED FOR A SECOND, THE WORST IS THE CAR POOL LANE, IN CALIFORNIA IS A YELLOW LANE AND THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY PULLS TOWARDS IT. IT OBVIOUSLY CANNOT DETECT YELLOW LINES. TODAY SOMETHING NEW HAPPENED AND COMPLETELY CHANGED THE GAME FOR ME : THE CAR EMERGENCY BREAKS WERE ACTIVATED BY NOTHING AND OUT OF NOWHERE WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON 90 MPH !!!!!!! ALL MY STUFF WERE THROWN FROM THE BACK SEAT TO THE FRONT AND I GOT SERIOUSLY INJURED BY THE SEAT-BELT THAT WAS PUSHED AGAINST ME! LET ME MAKE IT CLEAR...THERE WERE ZERO CARS BEFORE ME OR AROUND ME ! THANK GOD FOR NO CARS BEHIND ME OR THIS CITATION COULD HAVE ENDED DIFFERENTLY. I DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND LEFT THE KEYS OVER THERE TILL THEY FIGURE IT OUR OR GIVE ME A DIFFERENT CAR. I'M SCARED TO GO BACK DRIVING IT.

ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS MY CAR'S AUTOMATIC COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM HAS ENGAGED WITHOUT NOTICE AND ANY REASON. THERE WAS NOTHING IN FRONT OF MY CAR AND THE CAR BRAKED SUDDENLY WHILE I WAS DRIVING 45 MPH. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS THROWN FORWARD AND BACK WITH A JERK. SINCE THEN I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING LOWER NECK AND SHOULDER PAIN. I DISENGAGED THE COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM AND WILL TAKE THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS.

WHEN DRIVING MORE THAN 25 MILES IN A DAY MY STEERING WHEEL WILL STIFFEN UP AND THEN IT WILL RELEASE WITH A JERKING LIKE MOTION ( ALMOST SIMILAR TO A RACK AND PINION ISSUE IN AN OLDER VEHICLE). IT PROGRESSES THROUGHOUT THE DRIVE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTINUE THE TRIP. HONDA HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS AND SAID IT'S THE WAY THE SUSPENSION IS SET UP, HOWEVER IT SHOULDN'T BE STIFFENING UP AND JERKING AS IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN. HONDA IS CURRENTLY IN POSSESSION OF THE ACCORD TRYING TO DETERMINE IF THERE'S ANYTHING THEY CAN DO. THEY'VE HAD THE CAR FOR 17 DAYS AS OF THIS POSTING. WITH ALL THAT SAID, I KEEP ALL THE DRIVING SUPPORT FEATURES DISABLED. THIS STEERING ISSUE HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS DURING THE TIME OF MAINTAINING A CERTAIN SPEED FROM 25+ MPH. IT'S QUITE SCARY TO DRIVE UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES. THE 2ND ISSUE I'VE REPOSTED SINCE PURCHASING THE ACCORD IS I ALSO HAVE TO KEEP THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM TURNED OFF WHEN AS SOON AS I REMEMBER TO DISABLE IT AFTER EACH STARTUP AS I'VE HAD SUDDEN STOPS BY THE CAR AT A NEARBY RAILROAD TRACK AND A HIGHWAY SIGN THAT GOES ACROSS A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN TEXAS WHICH I WAS GOING 45MPH. DUE TO THE FACT IT THINKS THERE'S SOMETHING IN FRONT OF ME AND STOPS THE CAR. I'VE HAD WHIPLASH TWICE FROM THE CMBS SYSTEM ALERTING THE CAR TO COME TO A COMPLETE HAULT. I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE THAT NO ONE WAS BEHIND AT THE TIMES OF THESE INCIDENTS, BUT ONE DAY I MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY.

THE CAR ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE FOR NO APPARENT REASON. IT HAPPENED ON MARCH 28 1:30PM WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY 24. THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING ON HIGHWAY SPEED OF 65 MILES PER HOUR FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES WHEN I FIRST SMELLED SOMETHING IS BURNING. I THEN SAW SMOKE COMING OUT FROM THE FRONT SECTION OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY CHANGED LANES TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO STOPPED THE CAR BY PRESSING THE FOOT BRAKE. THE CAR HAS SIGNIFICANTLY SLOW DOWN BUT IT WAS CONTINUED ROWING FORWARD. IT IS ON A SLIGHTLY DOWNHILL SLOP. AS SEEING SMOKE GETTING DARKER AND MORE STRONG, I PRESSED THE PARKING BRAKE AND THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT STOPPED. I THEN OPENED THE CAR DOOR AND ROWED OUT FROM THE CAR ONTO THE HIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO CAR AND I WAS OK. I THEN CALLED 911 TO HAVE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. I HAVE 2 CONCERNS. MY CAR WAS JUST 16 MONTHS OLD WHEN IT HAPPENED. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ON BEFORE IT HAPPENED AND WE HAVE FOLLOWED THE SERVICE SCHEDULE. HOW CAN SOMETHING LIKE THIS CAN HAPPEN TO A RELATIVELY NEW CAR AND PERFECT SERVICE RECORD. THE OTHER CONCERN IS WHEN THE CAR WAS ON FIRE, BOTH THE FOOT BREAK AND PARKING BREAK COULD NOT STOPPED THE CAR FROM MOVING. HAS THIS HAPPENED IN A UPHILL OR DOWN HILL SLOP, I WOULD BE AT GREAT RISK.

ON A HOT DAY WHILE SITTING STATIONARY IN MY CAR WITH AC RUNNING, I HEARD A 'POP' WITH A FIZZLE SOUND THEN SMOKE BEGAN TO RISE FROM THE FRONT OF THE DASH WHERE IT MEETS THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING [PUSH TO START], AND ALL LIGHTS FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE ALL SENSORS BEGAN TO EMIT ERROR MESSAGES. I TURNED OFF AND EXITED VEHICLE, POPPED THE HOOD AND SMOKE WAS ALSO COMING UP FROM OUTSIDE THE CAR. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH 2018, AND AT TIME OF INCIDENT HAD A LITTLE 6000 MILES. AFTER LETTING CAR SIT FOR A FEW HOURS IT STARTED UP, WITH ERROR MESSAGES ACROSS THE DISPLAY..I.E. TPMS, CHECK ENGINE, LKAS,ETC. I THEN HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO NEAREST HONDA DEALER, AND THE SERVICE PEOPLE WERE UNSURE WHY A MODULE IN THE DASH BURNT OUT; SO THEY CONTACTED HONDA CORP. LONG STORY SHORT THEY PLACED BLAME THAT A CHARGER FOUND IN THE BOTTOM OF MY GLOVE BOX CAUSED IT, WHICH WAS NEVER USED IN MY CAR. TO THIS DAY NO ONE CAN ANSWER ME WHY A SPONTANEOUS FIRE STARTED IN MY CAR WHILE SITTING STILL WITH AC RUNNING, BUT THEY REFUSED TO FIX MY CAR. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE IF THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT. PHOTOS SHOW POSSIBLE LEAKAGE ON THE WIRES, BUT NO ON WANTS TO ADMIT THAT THERE IS A BIG PROBLEM AT HAND.

Very expensive repair for a know problem. This should be a recall item as there are numerous complaints with this model.

Automobile automatically, abruptly and forcefully applied the brake during normal driving. No apparent obstacle appeared that should have caused this behavior. However, the time this occurred was late in the day and long shadows of trees and shrubs were crossing the road at the time. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Driver was driving 40 mph on a suburban road with other drivers behind and to the side of the vehicle. Safety was put at risk as other drivers had to react abruptly to avoid a collision with and in reaction to the subject vehicle's stopping without apparent reason. Problem has occurred more than one time, including today being the most recent incident. Vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Only message displayed with BRAKE in large flashing letters (black and yellow characters/background) while the car was braking automatically. Braking lasted approximately 1 to 1.5 seconds and brakes were released before vehicle came to a full stop.

"Supplemental restraint system failure" warning is intermittently illuminated in the dashboard. It comes on when the car is in drive, moving down the road, and when the car is in park. Warning goes on and off randomly. Dealership couldn't tell me what the problem was. Just suggested I replace the (very expensive) module to see if that works. On 4 different occasions the emergency brake system has gone off and the car has slammed on it's breaks while driving 50-55mph down the road with no object/ vehicle in front of it. Thankfully no one has been behind me when this has happened because I would definitely have been rear-ended if they were.

I was driving on the freeway in Houston, TX going 65 mph in the middle lane and my engine begin to lose power, and start stalling. Almost causing me to wreck with my 8 yr old son in the back seat. I was advised by my the dealership that Honda has a recall on fuel pumpt with my year and model. I contacted Honda and was advised my car is the year and model of the fuel pump recall, but it wasn’t effective by it. I feel that’s very strange my car didn’t apply to the recall, but it’s doing the same thing other owners car doing with the faulty fuel pump recall. I am terrified by the incident and it has cause me so much anxiety and stress. I look to get my car repaired due to the recall and Honda isn’t being helpful after myself and child almost had a wreck

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 60-65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the roadway. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove to the residence. Additionally, the contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the vehicle was running rough and was shuddering, and the RPM failed to exceed 2,000 RPM while driving. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the fuel injectors were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump had malfunctioned. The contact was referred to the dealer for recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V314000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the dealer informed the contact that the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 75,900.

The low beam lights abruptly stopped working without warning. The high beams, fog lights and interior lights work fine but I had to use my bright lights to get home which visually impaired oncoming traffic & myself because they flashed me with their bright lights. I called the dealership, and they said what happened was highly unusual and that led lights don't go out. Following this my system lights started to come on for the tire pressure and the brakes. They are still on and my tires work fine and brakes are working fine.

Several warning lights appeared on the dash of my 2018 Honda Accord last week, including the check engine light along with several other warnings. The vehicle was acting very strange while I was driving it to the dealership, especially going up inclines. I was informed the fuel pump needed to be replaced, which has now been accomplished. The vehicle only has 34575 miles on it. In my lifetime, I have never had a car that needed a fuel pump replaced, and this one has less than 35,000 miles on it. I feel the fuel pump was inherently defective, not the result of normal wear and tear. I could not have driven this car safely any distance. It has now been replaced, but I believe this fuel pump could cause serious problems and accidents for others if not corrected.

The vehicle had a very violent shift (perhaps it was turbo lag related?) at low speed (under 20 miles per hour - typically, this happens in a parking lot or the like as you slowly drive away). In the past, this had been mentioned to the dealer, numerous times, who claimed that the issue is not reproducible. However, during the visit on 12/06/2022, dealer mechanic(s) claimed that they did witness the issue and the fix the performed the following (per dealer's notes): "reset TCM and Batter cable reset." after which (the dealer notes state): "Let the customer know that the trans will adapt to driving habits within 200 miles. If the customer drives hard, the transmission will learn hard to shift hard etc..." The second statement is nonsensical, since, most of the time the transmission shifts relatively fine, regardless of the driving pattern (i.e. hard, mellow, etc.) and the issue happens intermittently (every so many hundreds miles driven), at very low speeds with very little accelerator input, which indicates more of a software issue (and, possibly a mechanical design defect, coupled with the SW issue). Again, Honda has refused to properly troubleshoot and address the issue. There are now other customers with, what sound like, a very similar problem: [XXX] And, just as with my vehicle, other dealers are claiming "there is no issue" and Honda has ignored the issues. Honda has a history of transmission problems from the 2000s and it's really worrying that they might be repeating that pattern with 2018-on models: [XXX] While I am noting the issue at this mileage, there are numerous other instances of where the same problem occurred. The violent manner in which these shifts happen, makes one wonder how much mechanical damage is being done to the transmission and if a recall should be issued. This is a complaint for a unique occurrence of this problem on this date. In some instances, it seems that the ventilation system is potentially pulling noxious fumes in from the engine bay and in others, there seems to be an issue with moisture retention when AC is run. The vehicle forces foul smelling air in to the cab. Honda has failed to properly troubleshoot the issue (i.e. retain the vehicle for more than a few hours and try to understand if there is an issue with the ventilation system or something else).

The 2018 Accords have a system called "Brake Hold" which is intended to engage the braking system while a vehicle is stopped at, say, a stop-light. The intent seems to be to allow the driver to have their foot on the gas, instead of the brake pedal. The Brake Hold system frequently has an issue where it allows the vehicle to creep. This, generally, seems to happen in colder temperatures. Another, pattern of behavior is when the vehicle has been brought to a slow roll, then stopped (using the brake pedal) and as soon as the brake pedal is release, the Brake Hold system fails to hold the vehicle in the stopped position. After a significant delay, the Brake System is engaged, but the vehicles had, at that point, lurched forward several inches, if not over a foot. This indicates (just as with the Collision Mitigation System delays, discussed in other complaints) that there is a significant issue with the timing of the control system utilized in the Brake Hold, the sensor(s) or both, where the system fails to detect the conditions in real time and reacts in a delayed manner. Again, as with other issues on the later Honda models, Honda has failed to perform comprehensive troubleshooting of the issue (even after me taking the vehicle to the dealer as indicated by Honda. This is a complaint for a separately occurring instance.

In the multimple other complaints filed (regarding the Collision Mitigation System, Infotainment, etc.) it become obvious that Honda has really screwed up the firmware/software and how it interacts with the sensors/systems and the user on this vehicle. The issue, this time, was the common occurrence of the battery dying. HOWEVER, instead of simply putting up a message that says "Hello, your battery is in an untennable state", someone thought it would be a good idea to flush EVERY warning possible, as in "Anti-Lock Brake System Problem...", "Vehicle Stability Assist System Problem...", etc. And, of course, it would demand that you "take it to the dealer." Upon replacing the battery the issues went away, for a few days. Then, another set of warnings - this time, something to do with the "Emission System". Upon taking it to a non-Honda reputable mechanic (so, a third party without a conflict of interest), they reset the codes and then things seemed to settle down. Good to know - another thing that just "happens with these" when it comes to the Accords of the 2018+ model year.

The vehicle keeps stating the brake mitigation, acc, and other various Honda sensor features need to be repaired and to contact a dealer. The vehicle de-accelerates on its home and doesn’t allow any of the Honda sense features to work. All the components of the dash are triggered at once. Most of the time the vehicle drives fine without the use of the Honda sense features. I have brought this to Honda and they state they don’t see any issues known to cause this problem. Short of the fact they never seem to happen when I bring it to the dealership. Most of the time this goes away on its own but lately the problems are lasting days. I don’t feel safe driving my own vehicle which has been greatly maintained.

My car ran good up until July 29, 2023. There was a slight tornado and lots of rain when I parked the car it was fine hour later it began to stall and became undriveable. I called my insurance company Progressive and called Honda of Manchester and Progressive had the car towed to Honda. They came back with the diagnosis of my HeadGaskit needs to be replaced my fuel injectors are miss firing and the piston rings needs to be replaced. I have 84,998 miles on the car and all of the maintenance records are up to date. Honda gave me a price of $4,800+ to have it fixed. Where I’m concerned at is how can these many problems happen at one time and I had know warning signs it just stopped running all of a sudden.

I have been dealing with the check engine light codes p0172c & p219c. Honda inspected my vehicle and said the problem is that my car is running too rich and the fuel injectors are bad but they say i cant really do anything because the fuel injectors are on backorder but really they are discontinued and they are unsure when theyll comeback. Im concerned for my safety and for others on the road because the p219c code is commonly associated with a leaky head gasket, and after speaking to several third party mechanics theyve all said they have been getting others with the same problem and the fuel injector isnt the actual problem, its the head gasket. which means unfortunately my head gasket could blow any moment im driving my car which i NEED to do because i NEED to work. I travel at least 40 miles a day in houston traffic and im very worried about the potential damages i can cause should my head gasket blow while im driving in rush hour on the highway. I had no other kind of warning for this besides the check engine light and its been on for the past 4 weeks.

I purchased the vehicle from a Honda dealership on 5/21/2022. The Multi-View Rear Camera stopped working correctly after only a few weeks of ownership. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the problem. I didn't take the vehicle back until 11/28/2022, due to the 3YR/36K factory warranty being expired. I also didn't purchase any extended warranty coverage due to the mileage on the vehicle being only 13,878 at that time. There has been a previous recall due to the Multi-View Rear Camera (Recall Numbers: K2G & V2F). The NHTSA Campaign Number is: 18V629. The information related to this recall states that the Multi-View Rear Camera may fail because of bad software. I feel that the safety of myself, other passengers that I may have in the vehicle, as well as the safety of others, are at risk due to the Multi-View Rear Camera not working properly.

The backup camera does not work. Currently it is a black screen when in reverse. It started several months ago going in and out, with it working sometimes and other times going completely out. Now it is completely out and does not work at all. This puts my daughter and others in and around the vehicle in danger when reversing. Honda has a "Rear Camera Safety Recall" for the 2018 Honda Accord, however it does not apply to my VIN. I was told by Honda to bring it to the dealer for a diagnosis. If it was not too expensive, then I could pay for the fix. If it is too expensive, then to call Honda back with the diagnosis and they would determine if financial assistance can be provided to make the repair. I have an appointment tomorrow to have it diagnosed.

In April 2023, our car's dashboard lit-up and we took the car to the Honda dealership. The service center diagnosed a misfiring cylinder caused by a fuel injection system problem, and we were advised that all fuel injectors need replaced. Symptoms of the fuel injector issue would be less vehicle power and the potential to stall completely, and the service center informed us to avoid driving long distances but that the fuel injectors were on national backorder. Honda has not provided any timeline or updates, or a loaner vehicle in the interim, even though it has been nearly 2 months. There were no warnings beforehand, and driving without replacing the fuel injectors is dangerous due to the risk of stalling. It has been stated this is not a unique issue, and the service center has multiple people waiting on these parts and fixes.

About two months ago when I was driving home from work, my car slowing down suddenly and it would not accelerate, so I pulled over to the side and cut it off the engine for 2 minutes then I started the engine back and it seems like nothing happened, I drove my car like normal everyday. Then one month later all the warning light came up so I called the honda service and I have to leave my car over there, then they called me, it has a problem with Fuel injector and it will cost about $1400 to replace the part and I said go head and fix it. They called me back that they could not get the part due to the back ordered and they do not know when they gonna get the part. They said it could be 7 days to 12 months to get that part. I am pretty upset about this matter. How can Honda do not have that part?? Anyway my car only has 32,000 mile and I always take car my car and it had problem already. On Easter 2023, my family and I were traveling when the check engine light came on. A warning indicated there may be an emissions problem. I contacted my local dealership the following morning and was told that there was a safety recall on seatbelts ( had no idea) and that I’d have to wait until 5/1 in order to get a loaner. I was advised if I brought the car in sooner, I wouldn’t be allowed to leave in it if needed parts weren’t available. I was told that the car was safe to drive as long as check engine didn’t flash. On 4/26, I was a block away from my home when several warnings began to illuminate all at once- “adaptive cruise control is failing, see dealer”, “ collision mitigation braking system failure, see dealer” among several more warnings. I contacted the dealership again and was told to keep my appointment the following week. I took my car in on 5/1 and was told that I needed to replace fuel injectors at 68k miles! I was quoted $2100 for the repair and parts however the part can’t be located due to being on a critical back order. It seems that staff at Honda have been provided a script to ask consumers to pay for the part in order to be given an eta which is ridiculous. I questioned why the dealership couldn’t order the part and I pay once it arrives to ensure my car received the part. 2 weeks later and still no ETA. Honda should honor their brand and customers and issue a recall as I’ve read this is a frequent problem on the 2018 model Accords.

Vehicle suddenly shut down in traffic second time in a row within 4 days after it was supposedly repair by Honda dealer the first time. It was again my luck that the car engine shut down, suddenly stopped on a road, not on a highway which could result in serious injury to death as sudden stop would cause newsworthy bad crash to my vehicle from oncoming high speed traffic that follows my vehicle. Problem was traced to the latent defective wire harness bundle that runs from the front to the rear of the vehicle throughout the floor board. I believe normal vehicle road vibration during my four years of driving in the high traffic Los Angeles region (a measly 27,700 miles) introduced flexing to the wire harness at certain portion of the latent defective wire harness bundle. The latent defect in the wire harness bundle surfaced its ugly head finally since I own the car new in March, 2019. A segment of the spider wire harness bundle that has the latent intermittent defect disconnected internally to cause the control signal to the fuel pump assembly to stop fuel pump to the engine. Consequently, the vehicle engine shut down, stopped suddenly in traffic again the second time due to lack of fuel. The large spider wire harness bundle was replaced on May 9, 2023. The vehicle is operating properly so far. Clearly this is not a wear and tear issue. It is a latent defective wire harness bundle supplied to Honda by the Honda subcontractors who fabricated the wire harness bundle for the factory build for this 2018 Honda Accord model lot. I like to strongly urge NHTSA to engage Honda to make plans to investigate this lot of wire harness supplied to it now that my vehicle defective wire harness bundle is sent back to the Honda warranty department.

Honda issued a recall notice for repairing seat belts that fail on this vehicle, assuring customers the repair would be a quick one hour replacement. I learned from [XXX] at Findlay Honda in Las Vegas in April 2023 that this is an outright lie. Honda requires the repair facility to photograph the seat belt, submit the photos and IF it looks like it needs replacement, they will send out the parts. During this time, which can take 2 days according to Mr. [XXX], the car is forcefully sequestered and Honda will not provide a loaner car. As this renders the repair process a costly burden for the customer, Honda is assuring their customers remain at risk of death or severe injury due to failing seat belts they will not replace. Honda technician discovered connector to the fuel pump assembly was disconnected. His statement is: Technician found a softset connection on the fuel pump assembly. The vehicle computer did not produce vehicle malfunction message. It was confused with no input from the fuel pump assembly. The vehicle computer displayed many erroneous messages on the dashboard. It shut down the engine suddenly in traffic. If the vehicle was driven on the highway, a very serious accident perhaps resulting in death can occur when vehicle suddenly stops in high speed traffic. I believe this is manufacturing error with poor quality control. Honda needs to beef up the quality control, furthermore redesign the vehicle computer to send error messages to the driver, do a soft coast of the vehicle when connection to the fuel pump assembly is not engaged.

There has been a series of constant issues with this model and each issue has been brought to a certified Honda dealership and was supposedly "fixed" engine code P0300 (random/multiple cylinder misfire),P2651 B rocker arm Actuator system, P0087 Fuel Rail/system pressure, P0304,P0303 cylinder 3 and 4 misfire, engine temperature always above normal. These issues on multiple situations has put my safety and the safety of others at the highest risk. The motor vehicle due to these issues randomly would lose power to the point where stepping on the gas doesn't not accelerate the car, forcing me to stop in the middle of the highway having other vehicles stop suddenly and swerve around me with children in the vehicle. Another occasion going up a hill the car beings to stutter losing power resulting to the car shutting off, forcing me engage These reoccurring issues have also randomly caused the vehicle to not start. Multiple warning signs are lit across the dashboard. These occurrence are random with no warning sign The vehicle has been brought to the same dealership numerous times claiming each issue was fixed but within a few weeks more issues came. The last visit i was told as a "solution" i need to buy a new engine out of pocket, unacceptable for a Honda engine with 64000 miles on it. On April 7 at 1230p I was driving about 45 mph on Lindbergh Blvd in Creve Coeur. As I was moving into a construction area there was a sign to lower speed to 35. I lowered my speed with my brakes and at the same time traveled over a metal plate on the road. After I let up on the brakes there was an immediate very jarring breakage done without my foot on brake as I went over the plating. The abrupt braking was so severe that all of the belongs on both front passenger and back seats all fell to the floor. There is no doubt in my mind that if there was a car behind me they would ran right into me. After going over the plating the braking system was released and my regular driving ability resumed. I would be afraid to try to reproduce this problem. Since owning the car I have had about 5 less severe problems with this automatic braking system on this same road with the system sensing something that was not there (I thought it was a policeman's radar) with a very very short and less severe automatic braking. I did not not notice any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem .

There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the failure was a known manufacturer defect; however, the dealer informed the contact that they could not repair the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 45-60 MPH, the driver's side-view mirror detached from the mirror housing. The contact panicked as he had lost visibility of incoming traffic. Additionally, the forward collision avoidance sensors ceased to function as needed. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road, and he pushed back the mirror into position while driving. The contact stated that upon reaching his destination, he attempted to secure the side-view mirror in the housing but was unable to. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who advised the contact to push the side-view mirror back into place whenever the failure occurred. The dealer also informed the contact he would be charged for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure occurred 5-7 times within two years. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) had another failure. This is due to the Radar Sensor being blocked and then other safety systems in the vehicle having cascading failures. In the winter of 2019, the Radar Sensor had failed catastrophically and I had to take the vehicle in to the dealer where they, supposedly, performed some sort of an adjustment. During a phone call with a Honda representative, the representative claimed that "this would never happen again." However, what happens now is I get an error message claiming that there is a failure in the CMBS system, every time the Radar Sensor is blocked, directing me to "take the vehicle to the dealer." Hence, she lied. Furthermore, the failures indicate Honda's failure in producing a safety system that is reliable in a wide range of weather conditions. Honda CEO recently claimed that Honda will be producing Level 3 autonomous vehicles. That is horrifying, considering Honda can't even make a CMBS and a Radar Sensor that does not fail constantly. Please, please, please make Honda recall ALL the models which use the Radar Sensor and the CMBS that is similar to the one in the 2018 Accord before someone gets really hurt. Please.

The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) had another failure. In this case, there was "phantom braking", whereby the car abruptly applied breaks without an abstruction in fron of the vehicle. I have filed several complaints with NHTSA and, yes, "have taken the vehicle to the dealer" more than once for issues with the CMBS, to no avail. Not only that, but since then, there has been a class action lawsuit against Honda for the related issue(s). Yet, NHTSA still has not issued a recall on all the CRVs, Accords, Pilots and Odysseys which all use similar version of this system.

This is a complaint for a separately occurring instance of this issue.

Did not look at as to why the display shows 100mph speed limit when there is no such thing in the the state of Colorado (that I know of and certainly not where I was driving when this happened). Did not look at why the aux display has issues Did not look at Bluetooth connectivity issues. Did not look at problems with radar and the CMBS system. Of course, the usual response is "we drove it for an hour (if that) and did not see anything."

When the engine is shut down, there is a squeak (have not been able to pinpoint the source). However, prior history on the vehicle considered, wanted to make a record. The vehicle has always had a burning smell to it and, at one point, a dealer's mechanic did replace the head gasket, claiming that was the source of the burning smell. However, the burning smell still persists and I've been wondering if something more serious is going on (as one mechanic did say, there is a possibility of the turbo burning oil due to some defect). Hence, the squeak is suspicious due to that.

Defrost on the 2018 Honda Accord seems to have an intentionally compromised design whereby the vent underneath the windshield was made too small and does not deliver sufficient airflow in order to maintain sufficient visibility in colder/wetter conditions. This, in turn, compromises the safety as the visibility is severely compromised.

This is a complaint for a unique occurrence of this problem on this date. In some instances, it seems that the ventilation system is potentially pulling noxious fumes in from the engine bay and in others, there seems to be an issue with moisture retention when AC is run. The vehicle seems to force foul smelling air in to the cab. Honda has failed to properly troubleshoot the issue (i.e. retain the vehicle for more than a few hours and try to understand if there is an issue with the ventilation system or something else).

While I was driving down Highway 101 near Mountain View near the Shoreline off-ramp, the vehicle's CBMS activated at highway speed even though there was no car in front of me. The weather was cloudy but visibility was good. The vehicle displayed "BRAKE" together with a warning sound, and the car suddenly decelerated. Luckily there was no car behind me, since the sudden braking could have easily caused an accident. I can confirm that this is repeatable -- on three occasions, the CBMS engaged at the exact same place where there was some surface imperfection in the road (due to recent asphalt patching). I had to step on the accelerator immediately to ensure the car behind me didn't rear end my car. I've read reports about the Honda Accord 2018 having this potential defect and wanted to make sure this report is filed, especially because it is repeatable. For now I've had to disable the vehicle CBMS to prevent an accident from occurring.

My automatic braking system is activating sporadically with no apparent object in front of me. My car has suddenly come to a complete stop while driving on Market Street, York PA when there was no traffic in front or to the side of me and luckily no one behind me. The "BRAKE" alert flashed and the car literally screeched to a stop. This happened again when I was in Stewartstown, PA and was starting to go over railroad tracks, it suddenly stopped. Again, no one was in front of me or behind me. I routinely drive I-83 from York to Harrisburg 3 days a week to go to work. If this would happen to me on I-83, this would cause a serious accident. I contacted Apple Honda and was told the system is just really "touchy" and there is no fix. The person I spoke with said a leaf blowing across the road could trigger the system. I have to deactivate the anti-collision feature whenever I drive. This is a serious issue that has been around for several years according to researching the issue and Honda refuses to fix this.

My 2018 Honda Accord Ex-L 91,560 miles has an issue with the fuel pump/injectors while driving on the roadway and/or highway. My vehicle will come to a mid stop abruptly because it is not getting enough power to the engine from the fuel pump. This has caused safety issue to myself, passengers in my vehicle, pedestrians and and other drivers while operating my vehicle. Honda has been made aware of this issue and has over 650,000 vehicles manufactured between 2018-2020 with the same reported issue and has previously issued a recall for only certain 2018-2020 vehicles. Furthermore, Honda refuses to repair my 2018 vehicle under the recall for the same issue based on my VIN#. I have notified Honda of the inherent danger to myself and others and they have ignored the safety hazard and refuse to repair the fuel pump which typically has a life span of 250,000 miles or more.

Two cylinders began misfiring on the same day due to fuel injectors. Dealership inspected the injectors and confirmed they needed to be replaced. Under 60k miles on the vehicle. This caused a check engine light as well as 8 other error messages to show on the dash. Exhaust system error message was seen. Brake system light and ABS light turned on due to the fault in the exhaust system. Unclear if the systems are still working as intended. There were no prior warnings or issues until these dash lights turned on. Fuel injector issues causing engine misfire is dangerous at high speeds and can cause further damage to the vehicle.

My 2018 Accord had 22628 miles on it. I brought in for an oil change and tire rotation at my local dealer, Klein Honda in Everett Washington on 12/28/22. They performed the service and they gave the car an inspection. It said that the brake pads on all four wheels were at 8mm. which would be normal at 22628 miles. Two weeks later I started hearing a crunching noise when I would come to a stop. I made an appointment for a few days later 01/26/2023. I brought my car to the same dealer and they told me I needed a rear brake job, both pads and rotors. They said the pads were at 3mm on the left rear and 1mm and metal to metal on the right rear. $600 dollars, plus tax. I don't understand how pads can go from 8mm to 3mm in three weeks. I had only driven 259 miles between appointments. No warning lights came on and the only indication was the noise. The dealer said all the breaking systems were fine and workinkg properly after they did the brake job. There is no way that could have happened in 259 miles. Even if the first inspection was a mistake or the tech was taking short cuts, the fact that it wore out rear brakes at under 23000 miles should make a recall. Honda had a similar problem in 2010 and had a recall.

I have a 2018 Honda Accord Sport 2.0t 6MT. The car is up to date on recalls (BCM and backup camera update were completed). The car had been sitting in the garage for the last day and a half. I took a 7 mile round trip in light rain to Lowe’s. On the way back, I was on a service road going about 50mph, downshifted into 3rd gear and hit the gas. The tires slipped a little and the car went into limp mode. The car immediately started decelerating and the check engine light started flashing. The throttle barely accepted any input. I drove it home slowly in limp mode. I had to let several cars pass me. At home I turned the car off and back on and the car was perfectly normal. Limp mode was gone. Nobody's safety was severely at risk during this incident but if this happens on the highway it could be deadly. There are many people on Accord forums that seem to have experienced the same issue. I could not find a Honda TSB for the 6MT Accord. The car is available for inspection upon request.

While driving in stop and go traffic on the highway with the adaptive cruse control system enabled the system will suddenly stop working. A message appears on the dashboard information panel "Braking Mitigation System Error/Failure: Bring to Dealer". This has occurred twice in 2022, and once or twice in 2021. When the car is turned off, then restarted, the system appears to reset itself. I brought the car to the dealership, they ran a "Diagnostic" and told me they detected software errors and needed to do a "Flash" reset, and that it was not covered under warranty. I contacted the Honda Corporation and provided my service records, and details of the incident. They were lacking in enthusiasm to investigate the issue, as they were more interested in informing me that the vehicle was over the 36,000 mile warranty period. There was no collision, but that does mean there won't be in the if there is a software malfunction with the Braking Mitigation System. I feel the Honda Corporation is not taking this safety issue seriously.

Well I've had the car for about a year now and it has been good for the first few months, then I ran into a snag. All the orange warning lights for my safety features popped up and the vehicle was applying the brakes on its own. So I took it to the dealership and they told me it was a taillight, so I spent 500 bucks on one. Well after a month it's started to do it again this time worse, and it got so bad. I've had to pull over to the side of the road and restart the car because it kept braking while on the highway. Fast forward months down today and it's still doing it except much much worse. I tried to trade it in because I don't feel safe with vehicle anymore. But where I owe so much on it they won't let me get something else, so I'm stuck with it. I've made an appointment to see if they could check it out but at this point I just want it paid off and I want something else.

2018 Honda Accord 1.5 with 56k miles: while driving on the freeway, all the warning lights came on and jerked. Pulled over for a safety measure and turned engine off and turned it back on. Error code did not clear. My first initial thought was a file injector issue. Took it to the shop, After diagnosis, they said it was a misfiring (I’m like ok) they replaced coil and spark plug. After 1-2 months, tissue had came back. I checked a error code and it was another misfire. After a thorough search, looks like Honda has been having issues with fuel injectors but is not acknowledging the problem. They keep getting a misfire code on cylinder 4, but after checking the coil and spark plugs they said nothing is wrong.

WHILE DRIVING, ON THREE ACCOUNTS MY HONDS ACCORD INDEPENDENTLY APPLIED BRAKES WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON GAS PETAL. THE CAR SLOWED JERKED AND STOPPED. IT REGAINED SPEED AFTER I PULLED OFF THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OR BACK OR IN BACK OF THE CAR.NO WARNING LIGHT WENT ON. OUR AND OTHERS SAFTY WAS AT RISK WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED WITH NO INPUT FROM DRIVER. THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION. THE CAR WAS INSPECTED TWICE BY WESTBROOK HONDA WHERE IT WAS BOUHGT NEW. THEY INSTALLED NEW BRAKES ON THE CAR WITH 20 THOUSAND MILES DRIVEN SAYING THIS WAS NORMAL. NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN SUGGESTED OTHER THAN THERE WERE LEAVES IN THE WAY OF THE CAMERA. THEY DROVE THE CAR WITH NO ISSUE AND TOLD ME THEY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM .

I purchase my 2018 Honda Accord 1.5l Touring as a second owner from a Honda dealership when it had one previous owner and only 14,000 miles on it. Since the day I drove away the vehicle would shake slightly for a few seconds upon a cold start up. I really didn't think much of it at first because I have never had a Honda and it quickly would stop. Fast Forward about 14 days Lateran I was getting on the highway and when I went to move from the on ramp into a lane the car suddenly went into limp mode and every light on the dashboard came on. I was almost killed by a semi truck no joke. I then had it towed to the dealership and they called me literally one hour after they opened and said it was just because my tail light was getting water (this made zero sense to me but I said ok). Turns out that they magically figured out what the issue was (because it would happen once every couple months) right after warranty was up. They claim it is the fuel injectors and they need to be replaced at the cost of $1,600. This is insane and clearly a major issue they are ignoring.

With no object in front of the vehicle, the early warning braking system will activate and apply brakes. This is a very serious failure in the system. I have been able to avoid accidents only due to no cars being behind me when these brakes are applied. This is very dangerous at all speeds, but more so higher speeds.

My 2018 Honda Accord 2.0t Sport with 41k miles is just acting super super strange. It sucks because I just bought this car like a year ago. Please help me.

Periodically, at various speeds while driving, the “Brake” light will flash and sound on the dashboard, and there’s nothing in front of me. It causes the vehicle to brake and slow down drastically. It happens more often while driving at freeway speeds on the freeway. The vehicle will also light up with “Lane Departure” and will self correct when there is no need. I was informed by the dealer service department that “It probably was a glare from the sun or there was a reflection that caught the sensor to cause it to brake and do that.” It would happen at different times if the day.

2018 Accord Sport 1.5T - got a tune-up at around 98,000 miles. 1 month later, car went into 'limp' mode while trying to accelerate. Check engine code indicated misfire on cylinder 3. Had to have it towed - dealer found it also misfiring on cylinder 4 and determined it was a defective spark plug since they had just replaced all of them. 1 month later, did the same thing. Took it to a different dealer and they put a camera into each cylinder and found that cylinder 3 and to a lesser extent cylinder 4 were dirty. They are saying that head gasket is leaking coolant into the cylinders and recommending cylinder head replacement. This poses a safety issue as it is dangerous if the car won't accelerate when you expect that it should. Standard internet search indicates that this seems to be a fairly common issue with this particular engine (1.5T).

I was driving on the highway at about 45 mph when the car suddenly came to a stop without my touching the brake ( It wasn't as if the brakes were slammed on: the stop was relatively smooth but quick}. When I tried to use the accelerator to speed up, there was no response. I was unable to pull off the highway. I'm not sure what I did next, but I think I touched the brake. Within about 30 seconds I was able to resume using the accelerator. I don't think this was operator error. I drive this car infrequently, and it operates differently from the Tesla that I usually drive. But I don't think I was the cause of this.

I have noticed a few times, at least 3 I can recall in the past year I’ve had the vehicle. The most recent being, i had just merged into a left lane. Traffic was light as it was around 8am going the opposite direction of heavy traffic and I was taking my child to school, and my car suddenly jerked like a hard brake motion. I could also hear what sounded like the abs trying to stop the car, kind of like thump but followed by a deep grinding sound like when you suddenly slam on the brakes. I looked to my side and there was no cars near me just the vehicle that was a few cars ahead of me and no one behind. The car was drove fine after that but it worries me that it could do it at the wrong time.

I have had this vehicle since June 2018 and I have not had any issues until the last month or so. The first incident happened while driving to work and it was raining, when I turned into the parking lot a number of warnings started going off : Electric Parking Brake System Problem, Brake System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Electric Power Steering System Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem. Parked my car, went in my office and called the dealership. They told me it was most likely because of the rain and that the issue should resolve on it's own. By lunch time it had stopped raining, went to get lunch and the warnings were gone, but now when accelerating I would lose power. So I go the the dealership, they check to see what the issue is and they can't find anything. Told me to come back if it does it again. Few weeks later, driving down the interstate going 75 and I start losing speed for no reason and car almost crashes into me due to the dramatic decrease in speed and once again all the warnings are back on - but it's not raining this time! Honda can't find any issues and I'm so frustrated because it's a danger to me!

I have a 2018 Honda Accord 2.0. Twice it left me stranded on the side of the road due to a failing fuel pump. the first time it kicked back on after an hour and all the lights turned off so they said a diagnostic cannot be performed. The second time I was driving in the middle of the road and the engine cut off and would not start, luckily I had some space to pull over but I was still in traffic and I called a tow truck. It took 6 1/2 hours to finally get it to the Honda dealership and they told me my fuel pump had failed and there is a recall for 2018 2.0s but not my specific Vin so I have to cover the cost. It’s $1055 plus taxes even though there’s an active recall for other 2018 2.0‘s but not my exact vehicle. The part is on back order and can take up to a month they are providing no service car and no help on the recall.

My vehicle has activated the collision avoidance/emergency braking on numerous occasions for no reason. I have taken it to my local Honda dealer for this problem, and since they cannot recreate it, they claim there is no problem. It generally happens when there are lines in the road, or a change in the color or the road surface. It happened again last week while I was traveling on US 301 near Maxville Fl. There is road resurfacing going on, therefore one lane is a lighter asphalt, and the other lane is dark. I was going about 60 mph, changed lanes, and the car slammed on the brakes and displayed the brake warning on the instrument panel. Fortunately, no one was behind me. Driving at 70 mph on interstate 74 in cruise control the vehicle automatically braked on its own nearly causing a rear end collision by the semi following. Vehicle then proceeded to de-rate down to 40 mph and would not accelerate beyond this causing us to drive down the highway with our hazards on over an hour home. Additionally, after making it home every warning lights for adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, power steering assist, lane keep assist, etc. continue to come on and off. Vehicle was just at the local Honda dealership where they did a recalibration, to which I just picked up and within 10 miles of driving the vehicle every warning light is back in and vehicle de-rated again. Vehicle is very unsafe to drive and at this point a danger to myself, family and others on the road.

I bought this vehicle 8-25-2021. It had 22,000 miles on it. It now has 46,000 miles on it. I was feeling a vibration while driving. 7-31-2022 coming back from Louisiana into Texas I had a flat. When my husband removed the back tire to place the spare on, the tire was absolutely eaten up on the inside wall. There were chunks of rubber missing from the tire and we looked at other rear tire and it was worn beyond repair. I took my car 8-1-2023 to have 2 new back tires replaced and get an alignment, which has to be all wheel alignment due to front wheel drive. I was told that the rear camber had gone out. They quoted me $1000 to repair. I drive 40 miles one way to work Monday through Friday all highway. I do not drive over the speed limit and do not hit pot holes or curbs. Nowhere in my manual is there a schedule for alignment. I will attach a picture of the tires that were taken off 8-1-2022. This very upsetting and dangerous. I would think that a part that serious would last longer than 46,000 miles. And no one can align the tires do to this camber being broken. I don’t have the money to replace tires that often due to a defect on Honda America. I have read numerous posts from other Honda owners having this same issue. Thank you for your time and consideration. Have a blessed day.

I never fixed it. 2 years it hasn’t worked until one day my car randomly braked on its own as the system just started working out of no where almost causing an accident. Thankfully no one hit me from behind. But then it yet again isn’t working. Seems a default that continues to happen. And I’m worried it will happen again with my child in the back and someone slamming into me due to a system issue on the vehicle. I also included other errors that have occurred with this same issue but it goes away and didn’t happen as often as the collision mitigation issue. I put 2 months ago because that’s when the car randomly braked on me while driving on a busy road and that system is suppose to be “out” not working at all. But this all happened over 2 years ago when it went out and dealer said I didn’t need it for my vehicle to work correctly. dealership has all paperwork for everytime I took in the vehicle to have it looked at for this

While driving with two bars on the dashboard fuel level indicator, the car engine stalled and failed to accelerate. System warnings and dashboard lights for TPMS, Brake System, Power Steering, and others illuminated. Lights went away after re-fueling. This happened multiple times. Checked battery and found no issues. I believe this vehicle is affected by the fuel pump recall, but for some reason no open recalls show up on the search tool

The car’s Collision Mitigation system stops working for no reason, causing me to completely lose my cruise control until I can turn off the car and restart it. This has happened in stop-and-go traffic on the Interstate while the car is under the control of the adaptive cruise control as well as while driving down the road with absolutely no other cars around me. Suddenly the system cuts off and the Collision Mitigation Warning message comes on. The Honda dealership has no response to this. I have had the car since September 2021, and this occurs approximately 3 times per month.
