Complaint Trends

When considering a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, it’s important to research the other model years as well. This helps provide a broader perspective on a car model’s complaint history and potential issues.

Here are a few reasons why:
Understanding the car’s evolution: Car models can undergo significant changes from year to year, both in terms of design and functionality. This knowledge can help you better appreciate the car’s strengths and weaknesses and determine whether the specific year you are considering is the best buy.

Identifying recurring issues: Some car models have recurring issues that may not be apparent in a specific year. By researching the other model years, you can identify any recurring issues that the car may have and determine whether they have been resolved in the specific year you are considering. This knowledge can help you make an informed decision and avoid potential costly repairs down the line.

Overall, researching other Chevrolet Silverado 1500 years will help identify the model year with the lowest amount of high severity complaints, further ensuring a better car buying decision.

Timeline of Complaints

The timeline of complaints identifies how many problems owners reported with the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 while covered under the Bumper-to-Bumper and Powertrain warranties.

Seeing how many complaints have been filed for a car while it is still under warranty can be beneficial in several ways:

  • Indicates reliability: If a vehicle has a high volume of high severity complaints filed while still under warranty, it may indicate that the car is not reliable. This information can be valuable for a car shopper who is looking for a car that will be dependable and require minimal repairs.
  • Helps identify potential issues: By researching the complaints filed for a particular model, a car shopper can get an idea of the common issues that owners face with the vehicle.
  • Can influence warranty coverage negotiations: If you have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and your warranty claim for expensive repairs is rejected, having a record of similar complaints can increase your chances of getting the defect covered under warranty. In other words, documenting common issues with your vehicle could help you negotiate better warranty coverage.

Currently own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Texas Edition Z-71. Transmission continues to hard shift / lunge in forward and reverse. The transmission has popped so hard, on multiple occasions that I was convinced that someone had hit me from behind and had to pull over. The downshift is occasionally so hard that it that you jerk forward out of the seat. In October of 2022 the downshift at 15 mph made me lose control of my truck and utility trailer, sliding me into a small tree causing over two thousand dollars in damages. The suspension is also extremely shaky and any rough terrain makes the vehicle uncontrollable even at low speeds. I have almost had 3 additional accidents because of loss of control in rain and snow. The suspension is also noisy when you first drive with a grinding / rubbing sound. Vehicle has been in for service for these issues on more than one occasion and I have been told they cannot find anything wrong. I have had a transmission code in the past that eventually turned off. A quick internet search shows these all to be known issues and Chevrolet refuses to address of repair these major safety issues.

While pulling into a gas station travelling no more than 10 mph the truck turned hard toward a gas pump island and crashed into the island barrier guard. After shutting down the engine and restarting I pulled the truck out of contact with the barrier. The ESC light is now on. It still drives but pulls hard to the right. I have contacted the local dealer that I will be using for repairs and will deliver it to their shop tomorrow. It has not been inspected yet. After the incident the ESC light was illuminated and still is.

The seatbelts and airbags did not engage when vehicle was involved in serious accident. Seatbelts we’re on but did not lock up and airbags never deployed. Vehicle is in a body shop in Mexico. Serious spinal and hip injury made worse due to these components mail functioning. Vehicle is still in Mexico while insurance company drags their feet so they don’t have to pay. Vehicle has only been towed and not examined while it just sits there waiting for insurance company to do something. There was a police report made and I’m unaware if insurance folks have looked at vehicle as They won’t talk to us. There were no warning systems prior to incident. Why would a person even think their seatbelts and airbags weren’t going to work??

I was given a 2019 Chevy Silverado and when I turned the truck off the shift to park light would stay on and in February the brakes froze with the bad freeze when it thawed the brakes just started locking up by them selves I could not get over 5-6 mph so I made an app with dealership took it in told them what it was doing they had it a week they replaced shifter handle and bolt and reset codes I get the truck back did not have it 24 hrs I was leaving where I was fishing that morning I was going maybe 40 mph when the abs and other lights came on on dash and the brakes locked up again sending me sliding about 60 yards when I ended up in a ditch I tried to get out and the truck would not move so I get out and look to see my front passenger tire completely broke off folding up under truck. No one else was involved I automatically called dealership told them what happen filed a crash report and tow truck took truck back to dealership I contacted GM snd they sent an investigator to look at it but denied my claim said it was not a Manufactur defect.. so no one is wanting to fix my truck now it’s still under warranty with less than 19000 miles on it... and if I was to pay out my pocket to fix it I feel that it will happen again cause the freeze did something to the electrical brake system.. the truck is a year and 4 mts old. Paid cash for it and not I can’t even drive it..

WHILE TRAVELING IN THE LEFT HAND LANE OF A 4 LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY WE NOTICED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US WAS NOT MOVING. WE WERE GOING APPROXIMATELY 58 MPH. WE COULD NOT MOVE TO THE RIGHT LANE DUE TO VEHICLES ENTERING THAT LANE FROM AN ON RAMP. WE WERE ABOUT 100 YARDS AWAY WHEN WE REALIZED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US WAS NOT MOVING. WE IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES. THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP. WE HAD A VERY SEVERE COLLISION. WE SLAMMED INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US. THAT VEHICLE WENT LEFT INTO THE GUARDRAIL AND WE FINALLY STOPPED ON THE REAR BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE THAT HAD INITIALLY STOPPED WITH HALF OF THEIR VEHICLE STILL IN THE LEFT HAND LANE. TALKING LATER WITH MY SPOUSE WE BOTH REALIZED NEITHER OF US FELT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGE. THERE WAS NO SOUND THAT IS USUALLY ASSOCIATED WITH BRAKING HARD. I TOOK PICTURES AT THE SCENE. I FOUND IT ODD THAT THERE WERE NO SKID MARKS. IT WAS A CLEAR DAY AND SHORTLY AFTER 11 AM. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. MY HUSBAND REQUIRED TREATMENT AT THE LOCAL ER. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLED.

THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN ANY DISTANCE, BUT FAR ENOUGH TO SHIFT GEARS IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND WHEN THE AUTO ENGINE STOP IS DEACTIVATED MANUALLY OR AUTO ENGINE STOP DOESN'T ACTIVATE DUE TO DRIVING CONDITIONS. WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP THE TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKS AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD. THE PROBLEM IS NOTICEABLE IN TRAFFIC, BUT MORE OF A CONCERN WHILE PRECISION PARKING AND WHEN MOVING SLOWLY WITHOUT THROTTLE OR BRAKE BEING APPLIED. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN MY VEHICLE AND IN ALL SIMILAR LOANER VEHICLES THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS ASSIGNED TO ME DURING SERVICE. SPECIFICALLY, WHEN PARKING THE VEHICLE AND WHEN INCHING FORWARD TO A COMPLETE STOP WITHOUT BRAKE OR THROTTLE, THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY LURCH FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING AND HIT THE SIGN, ANOTHER CAR, OR CURB. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT INTERMITTENT AND HAPPENS DURING EVERY DRIVE AND STOP.

Transmission started slipping and shuddering on vehicle with only 72,000 miles. Took to the dealer and they diagnosed the transmission fluid and torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle experienced harsh shifting since new and is a safety issue due to delayed speed, slipping, and hard shifts. There is a class action lawsuit for this 8 speed transmission and GM refuses to fix it. I paid $3,000 out of pocket to have this fixed even though it’s a known. Issue.

I first noticed jerking in my steering two days later the power assist failed. It was almost impossible to steer the vehicle. Luckily I was just leaving my drive. Next time I was in the vehicle the power assist for the steering worked fine, went online and found a video that makes the repair was a body to frame ground strap. This braided copper ground strap from frame to body is located right behind the passengers front wheel. It is subject to salt and corrosion. My vehicle only has 40,000 miles on it and I do have a picture of the failure cost me $10 to repair it shame on GM for putting this critical ground just behind the front tire exposed to salt and corrosion

There could be a safety concern should the transmission fail during operation. The dealer has confirmed the problem and performed a fluid flush. However, the problem remains. No warning lights.

When pulling off or slowing down, there's hesitation, jerking, and kicking or slamming going in or out of gear. Was passing a vehicle one day and it started going, then lost acceleration. I put it to the floor, still no acceleration. My Abs/Traction light came on, the rear end started like bouncing, or something with traction. As I pulled over, the abs/traction light went off. A few times we complained about it, they looked at it, but said they couldn't find nothing wrong with it. It's still happening and it is dangerous. I have a 17 yr old Autistic son, I drive him everyday to school, almost 4 hrs a day. We bought the truck cause we needed something reliable. But now that our warranty is up we can't afford to get it fixed. They made sure to let us know about our warranty was out. But at the time they looked at it, we had warranty. But when it came to get it looked at it would take days, and we needed a rental but they never had one, so we would have to wait till they had an opening. There is a vibration that is randomly felt. Over the last year I have replaced struts shocks control arm control arm bushings sway bar link sway bar link bushings tires twice and the vibration just keeps increasing to the point it's doing it now when I turn or take bends in the highway. There is now a flat spot in a tire feel when going it slower speeds to be added to the vibration that happens later on obviously related. This is either from my understanding going to be axle or driveshaft it's going to get looked at today since there's nothing left underneath to repair. This has ruined a pair tires I bought last year for $1,500 in September and probably well on its way to ruining the tires that I've just put on last week for $2,400. There is a hesitation a lack of response and a vibration. As far as the electrical goes it makes this very weird buzzing sound very randomly it's only happened about four times it's loud and it can't be explained. Also sometimes the radio and the AC just turns on and there's no key in the car and I've had the door open for a few minutes. Sometimes after turning it off he'll turn everything off but turn it all back on again no key in. Sometimes I can turn the stereo off and it makes a whistling buzzing sound and it's not even on. As far as any light indicators on the dash for any of this no never had a one. I have completely taken care of this vehicle with the transmission flush and will changes and everything that it's supposed to have and I put a lot of money in it since I've had it in a year but I shouldn't have to on 2019 and it's still experiencing the same problems and I have plenty of documentation. As far as date of occurrence it's been continual and random since I bought the truck in June of 2023 from a local dealership called Lokey

Not really a safety concern but the backup camera worked for about a year, then got foggy during wet weather and completely useless in winter here in Anchorage, it was still foggy the following summer and then it went completely off and the following message appeared on the screen: service rear vision system. Of course it’s out of warranty now. I just think they should last more than a year or two in fact I’m still paying for my truck and a good feature that is really unimpressive. Thanks for your time.

While driving home from church the vehicle suddenly lost power steering when making a right hand turn. I had to go into the opposite lane to make the turn. Fortunately there were no other vehicles in the other lane and I was not far from home . There were no warning lights displayed during the incident. When restarted the truck the same day the power steering was working again. The the next day I started to drive out of my drive way and I finally got a message on my dash that said "Service power steering no assist soon". I called to have it service, but cannot get for 2 weeks. I called chevy customer service to inform them of the incident. They suggested having it serviced by a chevy dealership.

Engine failure at 86370 miles while driving down the highway. Towed to Sullivan Tire, mechanic found 2 bad cylinders and the lifters had destroyed the cam, requiring a total engine replacement. This mechanical failure of the engine was sudden and unexpected, placing myself, my children, and other drivers at risk of injury on a very busy highway (MA-24). Discussing this with the mechanic (Sullivan Tire), this malfunction has been confirmed by a GMC certified dealer and service shop (McLaughlin Chevrolet) that there are several other Chevrolet/GMC vehicles that GMC technicians and third-party technicians that are reporting have had the same mechanical failure in the engine. I am unaware if this has been inspected by the manufacturer. It has only been inspected by third-party technicians at Sullivan Tire in Bridgewater, MA. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

Transmission failed while driving home from work on US-95 on 26 July 2023, placing myself and other drivers at risk of accident and injury due to vehicle unable to shift gears at higher speeds. This problem was confirmed by Sullivan Tire mechanics, who also spoke with mechanics at McLaughlin Chevrolet, who have stated that they have received vehicles for repair and replacement for the same mechanical failure. I am currently waiting on insurance to inspect this issue. The malfunction indicator light (MIL) did come on the information center at the same time the problem appeared.

The vehicle started jumping when switching gears or when accelerating from a stop. The drive shaft ended up separating from the transfer case, lost 3rd gear in the transmission, and blew the 8th cylinder in the motor. I am seeing that this is a common issue with the year, make, and model. Yet not all that were affected were actually included in the recall from 2020. We luckily were not in an accident from this incident however, this has cost us well over $10,000 in repairs. This issue needs to be addressed and GM needs to fix this problem. This could cause an accident.

The transmission jerks when shifting or just driving as you’re accelerating and as you’re at cruising speed, the transmission has a shutter that creates a vibration through the truck. Said the fix was to change out transmission oil with the new transmission oil. Had to pay for a flush and filter at 56,000 miles. There were no warning lights coming on for the vehicle. My 8 speed transmission jumps out of gear randomly. Sometimes when I'm trying to pass on a 2 lane road at which time I am forced to hit the brakes and get back in line behind the vehicle I was trying to pass. Or after have stopped at a stop light or stop sign and I'm attempting to make a turn. At which time it will sometimes jump out of gear causing me to be stuck in front of oncoming traffic. It's getting worse and the GM dealer can't do anything about it.

So my Silverado is having the same issues as many other Silverado owners. I originally had the vehicle in for service on a transmission issue, which is also another problem these vehicles are having. As for the engine issue I have experienced the vehicle stalling out after running rough, primarily after the vehicle has been running for a while. In addition, there are times when I am driving at highway speeds and the vehicle seems to shudder and shake. I thought OK maybe it's the wheel balance or alignment so I took it in for the wheel balance and the alignment and it still is doing the same thing. So at this point I had the spark plugs, wires and coil packs replaced. Still having the same issue. In addition to this I had the vehicle in for first time transmission hard shifting at around 20k miles. The technician took the vehicle for a drive and stated that there was an issue and that the computer reset should eliminate the problem. It didn't. So I dealt with this multiple times, bringing the vehicle to service for diagnosis and even filing a claim with GM. The vehicle is still experiencing these problems with the hard shifting. I had the recommended maintenance performed on the vehicle which included fluid replacement without a resolution to the issue. I have completely lost confidence in the GM products and their service technicians as they've been unable to repair the vehicle to proper running order. This will be my last GM product, and that says a lot coming from a GM family member. Sad that quality has significantly gone downhill.

I had to leave my vehicle in my work parking lot and have my wife drive 1 1/2hr away to pick me up. *How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - I had no indication on my dash of any check engine lights luckily I was only going a slow speed and was at a stop sign when the incident happened I obscured a heavily traffic area and I had to push the vehicle to a safe position. *Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - I have yet to get this to a dealer, I currently had towed to my home. *Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - No *Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - No warning lamps This vehicle has 80,000 plus miles is used as a family/every other daily driver I have not hauled anything but a vintage trailer that's well within its towing capability I have no warning lamps to even indicate a problem is occurring at this time.

On my 2019-Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the ball joint in the front upper control arm broke and caused the wheel to separate from the truck while driving. The truck is available for inspection where I had to have it towed to the dealership repair center. Fortunately, no other vehicles were on the same road as me when it happened, and I was on a local road not going very fast, but it could have killed me and others. It most definitely put our safety at risk. Because of a faulty control arm causing the ball joint to break, it also broke my CV Axle, Tire Rod End, cut the brake lines and ruined the tire and wheel. Because the brakes did not work, I am fortunate the tire/wheel on the ground helped the truck to stop. The dealership says there is no GM recall so it is not covered and NHTSA Recall 21V718 is not real which I never received a notification about either. We are waiting on insurance and dealership to complete the full inspectection with an estimate and they too agree I am lucky to be alive. There were no warning lamps or messages. This must be addressed with GM immediately before more people die from this faulty control arm.

The front driver side upper ball joint broke. I was going down the highway at 70 miles an hour, pulling a trailer when it broke, I was lucky to keep it on the road. It ruined the rim, tire, brake lines and CV boot. Just fortunate there wasn’t a car next to me or we would’ve hit it and nobody died, especially with my young son in the car. Also when I got it towed the tow truck driver said he picked about the same year truck up three weeks prior for the same issue a broken ball joint on the driver side. In my opinion they should not be an issue with a newer truck with only 42,000 miles on it. This is a huge safety concern and has done a lot of damage to the truck and cost me a lot of money especially being six hours away from home when it happened.

The rear windows leak because of a faulty window seal. This is a widespread issue that some people don’t even notice until truck is out of warranty and dealers want $700-$1000 to fix. The issues causes water to enter the cab, mine had water going into seatbelt areas that could damage mechanisms inside and cause seatbelts to not operate properly in a crash. As well as cause mold and other issues inside the cab. The company knows of the issue and has made a bulletin for how to fix. This needs to be a recall as it is affecting most trucks. Customers should not have to pay for this fix. This is a factory defect in materials used. Whatever they used to seal the window, cracks and alloys water in. I don’t know how long this has been leaking but probably well before warranty ran out I just now noticed it because truck usually stayed dry. Only noticed because the headliner was wet and water was dripping from seatbelt area. I only have 26000 miles on a 2019

In my 2019 Chevy Silverado, I experienced an oil leak in my garage. I have never had a leak since I purchased the new truck. I took it to the dealership, and they notified me that my engine oil cooler hose assembly was leaking and needed to be replaced. I asked if the truck was safe to drive and I was informed that it was. I was driving home from work when the warning chimes began, and a message on my screen said to pull over immediately due to a loss of oil pressure. I looked at my oil gauge which was already at zero. I pulled over as quickly and as safely as I could and shut off the engine. There was smoke coming from the engine compartment. I called my insurance and then a tow truck. The tow truck driver asked if this was a 2019 Silverado, I said yes, and he said that he has seen this before in other 2019 Silverado trucks. As well, the dealership also mentioned that they have seen this before.

While driving started making a ticking noise. Stopped the truck, to see if we could hear it again. Put truck in drive, check engine came one along with service park brake and esc warning lights; we were on a highway with minimal room to pull off. The truck started to shake at about 55 miles per hour. Made it home and took to Chevy dealer on Monday morning. Informed that the lifter went bad, in turn damaged the camshaft. After having the truck all week, total repairs topped out at $10,500. This is wrong especially when I searched internet and GM is well aware of this issue when no regards to safety of drivers.

Although there isn’t any immediate safety issues. There may be long term including mold that passengers will breathe in and also the water leaks down window on the interior and creates streaks and hard to see through rear window if not cleaned often. > What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - This has happened about 5 times over the past 2 years when we come to a complete stop and Auto-Stop is turned on. So far it hasn't happened with Auto-Stop off, so it's an assumption that this is part of the issue. We come to a stop, the engine powers down (Auto-Stop) but all battery-powered features remain on. When we go to accelerate, everything completely loses power. It has taken up to 5 minutes to power back up. When this occurs, all we can do is open the door if it's unlocked - there is zero power to any part of the vehicle and there are no noises coming from anywhere. The vehicle is available for inspection on request. > How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - The vehicle loses all power. We cannot turn on hazard lights, brake lights to alert others in traffic that we're unable to move or start the vehicle. If there was a need to move the vehicle quickly, we would not be able to do so. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - No, they're never able to reproduce the issue despite reporting it at least twice on service visits. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - It has been inspected by the dealer. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - Not before it happens, but after the vehicle finally starts up, the dashboard message indicates we should roll the driver's window down and back up again. The date of the incident is the last reported instance.

Car is having issue since day one I bought it in 2019. Transmission is making a weird noise when shifting. It shakes when car is accelerating and in low RPM around 1.2 to 1.5 especially if car is driven with the load or up the hill. Car is making this stumping noise when car is decelerating like when attempting to stop on traffic light or stop sign, like the engine is going to go out so loud. At the dealership they told me if it’s not doing it constantly it’s normal. I will take it to the dealership this week again, it is really behaving bad lately . Car does have 53 thousand miles on it.

Truck would not get up and go and when it go to 30mph, it would violently shake and stutter. Changed the 4 spark plugs, with number 4 being the worst, then 1, then 2 and 3. On November 14, 2022, I noticed Water leaking in Rear Interior of Cab, Water Leak at Rear Sliding Window. It is clear that it had leaked before as there was several noticeable stains. I took the vehicle up to the Chevrolet dealership in Frisco, Tx to show them. They stated it was a known problem. Another Chevrolet Silverado was next to mine that they said was there for the same reason. [XXX], the service technician told me it was going to be in excess of $4000 to repair. I do not have an extended warranty and the vehicle is outside the standard 3-year warranty. This seems absurd since it is a known issue and clearly a defect in the manufacturing process of the vehicle. There was an NHTSA bulletin issued in August 2020 for this same issue. The bulletin number is 18-NA-383. The vehicle should be recalled and the issue fixed by Chevrolet since is is clearly a defect in the manufacturing process. Lost all power steering and brake pedal did not work properly. Could not steer vehicle at all even using both hands on steering wheel. I shut off the truck, turned it back on and "service power steering" light came on the dashboard. Steering did not work at all so I shut it off. Called dealer to report problem and left a message to call me back.( I did not hear back from the dealer.) After a short period of time, I restarted the truck and the service light was still on, but the steering and brakes were working so I drove it home. I took it to the dealership on Sept 5th to explain what happened. They pulled up 8 codes from the truck and made me an appt for sept 8th. They informed me that there was a wire chafing problem with this particular truck, but upon inspection on the 8th, they said they could not find a bad wire. They told me to drive it until it happens again! Not being able to steer or brake are DEFINITELY SAFETY issues !

I have had issues with the transmission of my 2019 Silverado RST since about 25,000 mile. I've had the vehicle in for service of the transmission multiple times and the issue is still unresolved. The vehicle will hard shift into second gear and downshift into different gears intermittently. I've followed through with all the maintenance that is required since I've owned this vehicle at the dealer level only. They've been the ones to recommend the maintenance items due to mileage. This includes the replacement of the trans fluid as well as the rear differential fluids. This problem is only getting worse now and it seems that GM is having dealers push these problems far enough without resolution that the owner would be outside the original power train warranty of the vehicle.

starting at about 10,000 miles I brought my vehicle in for service for a chirping noise from the left front axle area. I was told that they couldn't replicate the issue so I went for a drive with the service technician at the dealer. The noise was able to be replicated at that time and the dealer said that there is a service bulletin for that issue but they don't have a resolution for it from GM at that time. The noise is still evident and there is still no fix for it from the dealer. Not sure if this could become a safety issue further on down the road but with close to 60k miles on the vehicle now and the same noise still evident you'd think GM would have addressed it by now.

My Truck has less than 35,000 miles and I've had Transmission issues. I've taken it to the Dealership and they don't have an answer to the problem other than changing the transmission fluid as that has resolved issues on other trucks. When I took it in, I would shift it out of park to drive it jerks, when I shift from drive to reverse, it jerks, when I shift from reverse back to drive it jerks. When I'm slowing down at a stop sign or stop light it shifts weird. I've been getting on a busy highway and accelerated and it downshifted so hard and kind of stalled, I swear took it at least 5 seconds to catch up and gain speed. I don't want to be on the HWY and my truck stall because no one knows what's going on or how to fix it.

The truck at times and getting more frequent will at times jerk when downshifting and at times will be so bad it feels like you were rear ended. Had an issue 2 weeks ago this happened and the service engine light and anti skid light came on the interstate on ramp. The truck would not accelerate. I had to pull over, shut truck off for a couple minutes for computer to reset. Anti skid light went off but service engine light stayed on for several more days. Called dealership and service writer said down shift problems are normal, it's a learning feature. Truck has 52000 miles should have learned by now.

I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 that has been well taken care of. I got into my truck and went to start it and a bunch of warning lights appeared stating brake system failure, service ESC, traction control off and 4WD off. The check engine light also came on with multiple other warning lights. I had a family member jump my truck and I was able to make it home. I hooked it up to my code reader and it showed- P25A2 Brake System Control Module 1. This has been a known issue and has been recalled twice for about 550,000 of the 2019 Silverado 1500, but my VIN isn’t included, even though it’s clearly having the same issue. The fix is to have the brake system reprogrammed by the dealership. Since my VIN isn’t listed I’m not getting any help with the issue.

Hello, I am having issues with my 2019 Chevy Silverado's transmission. When I go to drive it, sometimes coming out of first gear I will have hard shifting. The shifting is to intense that I have to let off of the gas, so my truck and idol down. This is a big issue when I am in heavy traffic, with a rick of being hit by other cars traveling faster. I have told my dealership about this multiple times and the last time I talked with them about this. I had them flush my transmission, thinking that would help. After that was done, the service manger told me. The way my transmission is shift is standard GM operation. Sometimes I will have a warning lamp come up. The fault code is "lost communication with transmission".

Today March 25 2022 around 07:20 driving to work, the passenger side stationary panel of a 3 panel sliding window exploded with a loud noise. The window is totally shattered, but stayed in place. Little cubed glass is starting to fall from around the bottom edge. A month ago, I had experienced a crackling arcing sound coming from the defrost on that same panel. I took it into Quirk Chevrolet, Manchester NH to have it looked at. they stopped the arcing and released the vehicle back to me and fixed under "service bulletin". I am finding many other individuals experiencing this same exploding glass issue. There is a bulletin out concerning this particular model and yr truck for sliding glass window defroster overheating issues. I am hearing that the dealer is not addressing this as an issue and not remedying this under warranty. I have only 28500 miles on the truck.

I bought the truck in Oct. of 2019 with 5000 miles on it. I have taken it to several service shops since then. I have told every one of those shops fro 2019 to present that there was something wrong with the truck. There has always been a hard clanking noise in the rear end. It always feels like it's in 4 wheel drive. It has never shifted right. When pulling a load it fells like it jumps in and out of gear. And when shifting from reverse to drive it clanks in the rear end. It feels like there is a brake dragging because when I let off the grass it will practically stop itself and it sound like a wheel cylinder is going out. Sometimes I have to push the start/stop engine button 2 to 3 times before the truck will shut off. The screen of the radio goes black sometimes. The rear tires don't turn when in 4 low. The tail gate doesn't lift like it's supposed to. The heater isn't right when you turn the defrost on it blows out at you feet. And when it remote started the heater doesn't always come on. All the reportes can be seen through the Chevrolet dealerships or OnStar. It has been taken to several different dealerships since 2019 when I bought it.

The dealership had to replace several wires on my ECM wiring harness due to damage from rubbing against the harness bracket. I feel that gm should issue a recall to fix the rubbing on the harness and I feel gm should have to replace the whole harness not just the damaged wires. I feel this is a hazard for these vehicles do to being on the internet state. I feel it will cause catastrophic injuries to the occupant as well as other drivers. It's hard to guess what that would cause the truck to do especially since everything is connected to the ECM.

Event in Order: -AutoStart, failure -Started with key -“Action Required” - “Steering Assist Is Reduced, Drive with Care” -“Service” - “Trailer Brake System” -“dash panel information” not available – Fuel Economy and oil life -“Traction Control light on” -Put truck in reverse, gear not engaged, no response -Put truck in drive, worked, but steering very difficult and made vehicle not safe to drive and/or operate. This has happened to me once before but not to this extent, last was when I was driving and thankfully I was able to pull over and turn the vehicle off. It would not start after repeated attempts but finally started after and functioned normally. These events had not check engine lights and when serviced, the mechanics said they didn’t see anything when scanned. OnStar diagnostics had no report when I had it active. I bought this truck less than 18,000 miles ago. Initially bought at 17,181 miles on Feb 22, 2021 and is now at 34,675 miles as of Oct 29, 2021. This is a safety concern as the steering fail can potentially lead to an accident if the truck can’t be controlled. Traction control failure can lead to the vehicle becoming stalled in a dangerous situation. Brake systems can lead to unwanted breaking and/or being unable to break. This truck is a danger to operate. I do have video but, upload does not support MP4 format.

Same issue I had with my 2017 Colorado. Shutter/shake when accelerating between 1 & 2. Issue started around 64k miles. Thought maybe it needed the same transmission flush to the newer fluid. Dealer called after 4 days of holding my vehicle (with no loaner or rental option) to tell me that the trans needed an "update" and that it would cost me over $500 since I was over warranty at 67k. There's already a bulletin for the Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Replacement, which supposedly memics the same issue. However the dealership says "that's not the problem". I'm sure the same trans issue with hard gear shifts is probably related to this issue now. I haven't felt the hard gear shift in a while but it would do it randomly when accelarating out of my driveway.

2Ø19 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 4WD LTZ CREW VIN [XXX] Purchased: Royal Chevrolet (now Parks Chevrolet) 4502 West Broad Street Richmond, Virginia 23230 (804) 521-5300 In Service: 1 November 2019 Warranty Period: 1 November 2019 - 31 October 2022 Issues and History: Issue I-- When starting vehicle, radio comes on at full volume for one to two seconds. History I-- Prior to July 2021, never heard this noise. Beginning in mid-July 2021 with a mileage of approximately 3400 miles, the radio would blare full volume upon starting the vehicle. This occurred sporadically at first, but the event would happen more often as time went by. The protocol used for shutting down the vehicle is as follows: a.Place gear shifter in Park. b.Engage electronic brakes. c.Completely turn off Climate system. dCompletely turn off Entertainment Console (Audio, et cetera). c.Turn off exterior lights. f.Turn off engine. g.Remove FOB with person. h.Exit vehicle and shut door(s). i.Engage locking and alarm systems twice with FOB. The Settings for the Vehicle Sounds is zero volume and no button feedback. Therefore, the radio should NOT activate except when engaged manually, and certainly not when the vehicle is starting and certainly not at full volume. The vehicle was taken to Parks Chevrolet on Wednesday, 29 September 2021, where the Service Department retained the vehicle for two days trying to diagnosis this issue. We picked up the vehicle Thursday afternoon, 30 September 2021. Friday morning, 1 October 2021, the vehicle was used, and upon starting, the radio blared at full volume for several seconds. The vehicle was not used Saturday. Sunday, 3 October 2021, the vehicle was used for a short trip to Eastern Henrico County's Osborne Landing. Although the radio did not blare when first starting the vehicle, it did blare for several seconds at the boat landing having sat for an hour. The vehicle was used only three times during the week of 4 October through 10 October 2 INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Truck lunges forward sometimes. It will work properly most of the time and then after stoping , when you tramp on the gas it will hesitate then lunge forward. As I said most of the time it works properly. I consider this a very real hazzard, has been doing this for months. One day at my golf club while pulling into my parking spot,a tight fit, I had to back up to get into my spot. When I tried to go forward it had about a two second hesitation then squealed the tires. I have witnesses. My dealer says everything with the truck is normal after they inspected it . The internet is full of the same thing from other owners of the same truck.

On September 11 at approx. 1630 hrs. my wife and I were going out for dinner. I stopped at a stop light on a hill. Transmission in Drive, foot on the brake. Our truck suddenly started rolling backward. I looked at the dash, no warning lights, gauges still working, transmission in drive, I stood on the brake pedal, no effect, I put the transmission in park, no effect, I engaged the parking brake, no effect other than the parking brake warning light came on. We had rolled back approximately 50 feet. I looked in my rearview mirror and observed a car approaching. Luckily he/she saw my problem and stopped. Things suddenly started coming back to life and came to a gentle stop. When I looked in my mirror I was so close to the car behind me all I could see was his windshield, no hood. I moved the transmission from park to drive and we continued on. I have contacted the dealer and they are attempting to determine what happened. However, I am afraid this will happen to someone else who may not be as lucky as I was or that it may happen to me again. I pull a 5th wheel trailer with this truck.

The infotainment system on the 2019 Chevy Silverado fails when a passenger is using Carplay. While using Carplay for hands-free operation of a cellular device and or navigation the system will reboot continuously. Just prior to the system failures to begin the turn signals will begin to operate sporadically. They will either stay on solid, off, or blink at an uneven interval. These system reboots create a safety issue as this forces the driver to take their eyes off of the road and physically disconnect and reconnect the cellular device. By having to take my eyes off of the road to deal with the system rebooting this takes attention away and creates a safety issue for myself and all others on the road. One incident I had to slam on the brakes after looking back up and seeing that traffic had come to a sudden stop. The unit has been replaced by the dealership one time thus far and the BCM computer has been replaced once as well. This has not resolved the issues. This is also not limited to my specific vehicle. There are hundreds of other owners reporting the same issues. The problem was reproduced by one technician at the dealership but has not been reproduced by them since. (They all have Android devices minus the one tech. This is a Carplay issue.) This has occurred more than 100 separate times on this vehicle beginning in November of 2019.

Vehicle was parked and not running. I got into the vehicle and started it. I proceeded to put the vehicle in reverse and backed my truck up out of a parking spot. I then put the vehicle in drive. The vehicle started to go in reverse when I began to accelerate. I then put the vehicle back in park and then back into drive. The truck again started to go in reverse when in the drive position and I tried to accelerate and go forward. At this point the truck's check engine light came on. I put the truck in park, turned the vehicle off for a moment. I then turned the truck back on and again shifted it to drive and the truck went forward. We took the vehicle into the shop to have the codes run but a braking system code was the only thing that came up. The dealership said they will begin looking into it and the vehicle will be serviced soon. Safety Concern: That if we were in a parking lot and placed our vehicle in drive and it actually goes in reverse, we could have harmed someone behind us or damaged someone's vehicle/home/etc. I also worry there may be other issues that arise that could pose a safety concern since we don't really know what is going on.

The transmission will sometimes hesitate/lag for a few seconds when shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear. This seems to occur only cold starts where the vehicle has sat for a long period, such as overnight. On the most recent occurrence, I was stopped at a stop sign on my road and began to turn left (northbound) on to the busy highway. While turning from the stop sign on to the highway, the vehicle vehicle hesitated mid-shift and I lost acceleration. After a few seconds, a loud clunk was then heard, the truck jerked - throwing me forward, and acceleration was restored. This delay resulted in a near-miss collision as there was an approaching vehicle headed southbound and I was stuck in their lane since my vehicle was not accelerating. Issue reported to Heartland Chevrolet (501 Rte 291, Liberty, MO 64068) to document and investigate the issue. Vehicle taken to dealer next day. After 3 days of service, the dealer service team could not reproduce the issue and escalated to regional GM engineer (Service Manager called him directly.). Engineer stated that hesitation is normal. Still an on-going issue; work around has been to let the vehicle idle longer before driving on a cold start. Sometimes you can "feel" the hesitation and know when to let off the gas pedal few a few seconds until the shift in to 2nd to avoid the vehicle throwing you forward, being able to have better "control" of the hesitation issue.

3 ISSUES WITH LCD DISPLAY USED FOR RADIO. HANDS FREE DEVICES AND BACKUP CAMERA. !ST ISSUE IS AFTER BEING PARKED FOR SEVERAL HOURS, THE DISPLAY MAY FREEZE ON ITS LAST RADIO SETTING OR MAY GO COMPLETELY DEAD. CAR CAN BE DRIVEN BUT THERE IS NO ABILITY TO USE RADIO, HANDS FREE PHONE, MAPS FROM PHONE OR BACK UP CAMERA. ONLY FIX IS TO RUN THE VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST FIVE MINUTES, REMOVE THE KEY AND OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE THE INSTRUMENTS SHUT DOWN. OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR WILL RESET THE DISPLAY AND AGAIN IT WILL FUNCTION NORMALLY. 2 BACKUP CAMERA SHUTS OFF WHILE BACKING UP. 3 ENTIRE DISPLAY SHUTS DOWN AND RESTARTS WHILE VEHICLE IS MOVING. ALL THESE EVENTS HAPPEN AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS SAT IDLE FOR MULTIPLE HOURS. ALSO WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF STARTING TO DRIVE THE CAR. THESE EVENTS HAVE HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND GETTING MORE FREQUENT.

TRUCK WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW. SINCE I FIRST GOT IT I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BACKUP CAMERA FLASHING, GOING COMPLETELY BLANK, AND GIVING AN ERROR TO SERVICE REAR CAMERA SYSTEM. ALWAYS OCCURS WHILE IN REVERSE. DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED FIXING ISSUE SEVERAL TIMES AND NOW STATES THIS SAFETY ISSUE IS NORMAL IN THEIR VEHICLES. 11/25/19 DEALERSHIP REPLACED BACK UP CAMERA DUE TO LINES FLASHING THROUGH SCREEN WHILE BACKING UP. SCREEN FREQUENTLY WENT BLANK AND WOULD ALSO GIVE 'SERVICE REAR VISION SYSTEM' ERROR. 01/09/20 BACKUP CAMERA SYSTEM CONTINUES TO FLASH, GO BLANK, AND GIVE ERROR MESSAGE. DEALERSHIP STATED CAMERA WAS TESTED AND FUNCTIONING AS INTENDED. 10/22/20 SAME ISSUES PERSIST WITH BACKUP CAMERA SYSTEM. DEALERSHIP VERIFIED PROBLEM AND REPLACED CAMERA ASSEMBLY ON 12/14/20. 01/27/21 SAME PROBLEMS PERSIST. DEALERSHIP UPDATED SYSTEM AND CLAIMED NOT TO BE ABLE TO REPRODUCE PROBLEM. WHILE PICKING UP VEHICLE FLASHING OCCURRED BEFORE I EVEN LEFT THE LOT. DEALERSHIP REQUESTED I REMOVE AMP (INSTALLED LONG AFTER PROBLEMS STARTED OCCURRING; HAVE DOCUMENTATION) BEFORE FURTHER DIAGNOSTICS COULD BE PERFORMED. 02/26/21 DEALERSHIP SAID THEY CHECKED OTHER TRUCKS IN THEIR LOT WHICH HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. SAYS A VOLTAGE DROP IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS WHAT'S CAUSING THE ISSUE AND STATED THERE IS NO FIX BECAUSE THIS IS A NORMAL OPERATION. 03/05/21 PROBLEMS PERSIST. DEALERSHIP BUILT A NEW ELECTRICAL HARNESS AND REPLACED RADIO SYSTEM. PROBLEM STILL CONTINUES. 03/09/21 TALKED TO GM CUSTOMER CARE. THEY STATE THE SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE BACKUP CAMERA FLASHING AND GOING BLANK IS 'OPERATING AS DESIGNED.' 03/11/21 CUSTOMER CARE STATED VEHICLE IS PERFORMING PROPERLY AND AS EXPECTED EVEN THOUGH BACK UP CAMERA SYSTEM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. SAYS THERE'S NOTHING ELSE THEY WILL DO FOR ME TO FIX THE ISSUE AT THIS TIME.

I WAS GIVEN A RENTAL CAR ONCE WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR BECAUSE THEY HAD IT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY.
